no, you can’t. That is why SEA is not only your worst performing hub, but the worst performing hub in the airline world.
you don’t know all of the ingredients in the secret sauce that kept us out of bankruptcy. It wasn’t an old busted refinery.
ADDED: Disregard the pilots working for a discount secret sauce ingredient.

I love this. You obviously know nothing about Alaska. We are very profitable in those subsidies routes. We always will be. Delta backed away because they could never be profitable on those routes… why? Alaska airlines owns all the land and the airports. We are subsidized to fly to airports we own and pay rent to ourselves. Way better than an old refinery.
Delta backed away because they couldn’t afford us. We are high dollar. Go look for a bargain street walker in Atlanta.

Sorry Delta didn't hire you.

Only if you don't pay the card off each month. I run everything through a AA card and have not paid a dime in interest. I am flying often mostly for free and can generally get upgraded to the front of coach or a choice exit row seat. Leaving tomorrow in fact and just upgraded for free. The card is well worth it! S3B at Delta truly sucks!
48% of credit card holders carry a blance. Cha-ching! (you stupid beastards).
Finally joined the credit card "points" game; if you can't beat 'em, join 'em. Non-rev sucks, DAL "super doooper low discount for employee travel" ain't all that.
Not on DAL though. They really, uh, "heavily modified" their program. There are better CC options out there for free airline travel.

I assume that would be in addition to the one in HNL? Only widebodies there can make it to Asia and Aus/NZ. Unless you're implying close that up, and have one WB base in SEA? Not sure how the logistics of that would work. It would be tons of overnights in HNL. There's probably some break even point in terms of departures/day and having a base there vs tons of hotels/overnight costs. It sounds like they want to keep a large presence in HNL.
Agreed. VX and B6 would have been the easiest, cleanest merger in history. But money talked and Alaska won.
Curious to see if this Biden admin takes AS/HA to court too, just like Spirit/jetBlue. Closing arguments done there, it will be interesting to see that ruling...

That’s the million dollar question really. I think the merger makes a lot of sense for both airlines, but there’s two ways they could run with it.
Option 1 would be to basically keep things as they are while using the synergy of combined ops to make things smoother and more profitable. Replace the 717s and 321s with 737s and replace the 330s with their new 787s.
The second option is a bolder one. Keep the 330s for the Pacific ops, while bringing the 787s to Seattle to compete head to head with us on international ops like CDG, LHR, and HND if they can get a slot. I would think (and hope) that Delta would fight to keep its turf. Slash airfares on those routes and subsidize the loss with our massive domestic ops. Whether it worked or not, that would be an aggressive play for an Alaskan management that historically has been very conservative.
Be interesting to watch for sure!

sort like what JetBlue did to frontiers attempts to buy Spirit.
I mean if Hawaiian is going to be purchased and slowly put to rest I’d rather have it be by a red triangle 🔺 than an ugly Eskimo 😩
