DALpA gives themselves a raise?

OK. Went there. Found that. Not easy BTW. I counted 78 pilots on the list. 17 of those listed as full time. I thought there were more than this. I honestly think with all the work there SHOULD be more than this. Still think a pay raise should have gone to MEMRAT. A little surprised that isn’t codified somewhere.

Remember people on this list are paid by the company, not ALPA (PWA 24.J.3):

I mean the company is a bottomless well of monies, so why not squeeze them until the last golden egg comes out amiright?

I can see both sides of the pay raise arguement. The optics of a self-voted pay raise is always frought with danger. Even if there are good reasons for doing so (like the reserve bidders, who don't get anytihng unless they give 4 full days work in a bid month - that's an indisputably good example of a change).
But what I'd really like to push back on is the ALPA-while-sick outrage. As someone who has been out on LTD twice, one of which was 2.5 years, I tried to volunteer for ALPA. Not so much for the money (though that would have been nice to replace a little lost income), but to still feel connected to this job. I enjoy it (and if that bothers you somehow, I could not care less what you think about that). It sucks to sit on the outside for that long, hoping to be back. But I had a buddy who worked on the scheduling committe and put my name in. I even went in and interviewed with KS, then the Chair of the Scheduling Committee. He (claimed he) wanted to hire me in scheduing, but the probelm was the ALPA policy manual prevented it. He could ask, but he doubted he could get approval because of the optics - so I told him I didn't want to put him in that position, and that I'd call back when I got my medical back. When I did, they had no vacancies. Oh well.
The downside is that ALPA-while-sick is a benefit which few line pilots have access to. It allows some folks to extend their full-pay before going on LTD. That's true. But so friggin what? You could go out and get a job with DPS (I applied there too). You could go out and do other things. So why not APLA? I have ZERO issues with folks getting paid by ALPA while sick or on TD. Should a rep/committee chair have to resign just because he/she got sick? EFF NO. Maybe eventually there should be a limit, like 4-5 years or something. But in the vast majority of cases, it's fine.

We get it - I am more than happy to pay to get the best representatives, they work hard and provide many benefits. I've worked at a non-union airline and an airline with a weak union. We have it much better - what's the term - "pay peanuts, get monkeys?"

The more you post, the more clearly you set yourself apart from the professionals I work with every day. Thank goodness flying the line doesn’t look or sound like this.

The 4th pillar was there. You just don't want to see it. Or you don't like what you see - which is fine, that's your right. But every time you (and people like you) insinuate - or outright claim - the "4th pillar was abandoned" or "let us know if you find it", you discredit yourself. I get you are bitterly disappointed. But while those things might make a good rallying/grievance cry for the supposed "Deadzoner", it's factually untrue.

The best way to decry someone making a personal attack is always to make another personal attack. Lol.
Come fly with me. I'll buy you and the rest of the crew a nice dinner and bottles of wine in Rome. Guarantee you'll have a good time. APC ain't real life.
