Default 2024-25 Vacation

I know starting with April vacations, we are entitled to 48 hours off prior to our primary vacations. Are those 2 days considered hard off days? And if on reserve, any release restrictions the day prior to a hard no fly day? Thanks

Did you choose to have the 48 hours off when you put in your primary bids? Because if you didn’t you won’t get the time off - it is not automatic.

If no one here knows I’d just send contract admin a dart to see what they say.

I wonder how it works with vacation slide too. I know you have to be able to hold the days you want to slide your vacation off, but do you have to be able to hold those two prior days too? For example, could I slide my vacation to start July 5th, but effectively get the 3rd and 4th off as well? Or would I not be able to slide my vacation to the 5th due to not being able to hold the 4th off?

From what I remember of previous discussions…

Not treated differently than other off days. If on reserve, they count towards two of your X days

One Data point: I purchased 2 12.N bank days, and had them moved before my PVAC. The 2 PVPP automatically slid forward by two days to accommodate. So, I think it’s a fair assumption that a vacation slide would slide the entire thing. I would also presume that the same “if you can hold it, it will slide” rules apply to the entire period.

I do not know the answer to the “ hard day off” question, but I highly doubt the 2 PVPP days will be considered hard days off IAW the PWA - just pre-awarded X days.

A dart to ALPA would be in order to get official answers to your questions.

A PBS Notepad will be coming out shortly that explains how 48 hours free of duty prior to PVAC (shows up as PVPP) will work in conjunction with PVAC and Slide Vacation.

That's good. I didn't select it this time, because I wanted to wait a year to see how it all plays out (how the company unexpectedly tries to screw us with it) before I bid it.

Im glad we got the provision, but those comms should have come out BEFORE vacation bidding. Especially since we (apparently) can’t change our mind on it outside VAC bidding.
