Should senior pilots only be allowed to hold one “Gucci” trip every month, after which their next PBS-awarded trip must be a 5-day full of Florida turns in order to give a captain with 3 years on property the next Gucci trip?
We talking straight pay or premium?

Leveling and/or counters need to happen. Senior can get first pick, then number 2 can have his first pick, and so forth, before senior gets his second bite at the apple. They are already going to have a massive advantage by being able to drop trips and have room for them where Junior is stuck without the ability to drop trips and have room. There, seniority honored.
That's how other airlines work. We're lucky we even have a GS leveling mechanism and I'm not advocating for it to go away, but I don't want to dilute seniority anymore. There's gotta be some incentive to be senior.

Straight pay in that example, as I was talking about PBS awards (non-PBSPR).

It’s merely one example of how absurd it would be to make every aspect of seniority linear. It already is linear in some areas, but not others. Our contract is fairer than most at spreading the wealth across the list.

Gotcha. I wouldn't favor limiting the ability to drop or pickup straight trips. I am in favor of leveling on GS and SS tho.

So just because we are “lucky” to have a GS counter, we should shut up and color about everything else? That’s dumb, and contracts would never move forward if we all thought that way.
I pointed out that there are still plenty advantages even with a counter.

Nice deflection, absolutely no one is advocating for that.
Besides, one pilots trash is another’s treasure. Who defines “Gucci”? Because there are trips out there that people clamor about I avoid like the plague.

I think intent is very important. When I mentioned leveled drops, the intent was eliminating the incentive for M7 farming. I'm not married to the idea, I really don't care. I didn't even use my APD in 2025. We can level SS, we can treat OOBWS as a QS with a single acceptance window... We can skin this cat multiple ways.

Wanting senior to exercise their seniority without exploiting loopholes that negatively affect the rest of the seniority list is not watering down or abrogation of seniority. Bidding all "Gucci" trips on your line is within the intent of our PWA. Farming M7, is not. Not by the company or the pilot group as a whole.

That horse has already been beat to death in the other threads, so I won’t rehash it. But you and I both know that the value of M7 farming can, and likely will, be spread to other areas of the contract in the next cycle. Blowing up the rest of the contract (i.e. by implementing something as unpopular as drop leveling) is not a necessary part of that.

In the meantime, “senior” extracting additional value from the contract is not a disservice to the rest of the seniority list, especially when that value will be spread throughout. “Additional value from AA/M7 is not an intended part of the contract” is management speak. Calm down, wait for that value to be cashed in, and quit the jealousy toward other pilots who have found a great deal in the short term.

Deflection from what? I was providing an example of how seniority isn’t always linear, nor is it always limited to providing “first dibs” only. Those were Meme’s suggestions.

Gucci trips don’t exist in every category. However, there are some categories in which certain trips are always gone within the first page or two of PBS wide reports, with plenty of junior pilots underneath desiring the same trips. In that case, senior pilots are “taking the whole pie”, which Meme suggested is wrong.

If the argument truly is limited to M7 farming and nothing more, then that value will be extracted and moved to other areas of the next contract anyway. Fundamental change to seniority handling isn’t an essential part of that.

It is. Agreed.

So AEs, someone junior to me finally came in
