Just don't pay your mortgage off with it!!! 😂

SS are a concession because they're always horrible bid packet trips, aren't available to reserves, and reduce flexibility because you can't swap with them. I know they implemented something to identify a trip being used to wash PB days and designate it as a SS so it couldn't be used for further racketeering. I think that algorithm is still in effect, because the other day I swapped into a trip from open time and immediately IVDd it and I noticed it immediately turned into a SS. Which limits QOL by not allowing other pilots to swap into it.

This ⬆️

For many years we were under crummy contracts trying to get improvements and the company had no incentive to speed things up. We have a great contract and the company NEEDS changes. This is a perfect spot to sit and wait till they get $erious.

so it’s gonna be “wind the watch” versus “the time value of money.”

So long as there isn't any "unlocking" value from the contract.😂

”leveling” and “limiting” are 2 separate things.

SS is limited. GS/QS is leveled. They are not the same.

Saying that SS is leveled is the same as saying that #1 senior should get all the GS until FAR limited, and then the next senior can get some.

This is my shocked face. Anyone who thought this management team would step up with a serious offer to quickly extinguish this self-induced Gummster fire hasn’t been paying attention. I’m glad we gave them the chance to do the smart thing, but their insolent approach to problem-solving with ALPA just never works out.

Using your definition, no premium should be "leveled"

Perhaps the company's openness to an early deal is an attempt to sneak a subpar agreement under the wire by pretending they need a deal to save the summer. IMHO, the summer collapse is already baked in.

It has been my understanding that a short term deal would result in re-opening negotiations for a long term agreement in as little as 6 months after ratification.

If that’s accurate, I guess that’s a silver lining to anything slipping through the cracks.

Yeah, “saving the summer operation” is a charade. It was always about cost for them.

If they cared about the operation, they would rebuild crew scheduling, invest in IT, and immediately utilize QS or SC+M7 for every open trip right at 8 hours prior. They don’t need any contractual changes to do that.
