Agreed

I fly with many former mil guys they're pretty staunch unionists. Maybe during first few years here they still carry some of that get'r done mission completion don't rock the boat structural hierarchical chain of command stuff, but they soon figure it out and really become solid unionists.

I've flown with younger folks too from regionals, they're pretty staunch unionists as well. I haven't flown with the newer crop of hired though but what I've heard about the kool aid is right in line with what Breezy posted above

I don't give a rats a$$ about your or anyone else's politics. DALPA is our representative in contract negotiations. If they ask us to display unity, that's what WE need to do. Simple. I've posted this before, our unity scares the crap out of the denizens on the 4th floor. Right now a casual observer from there is not too scared.

Put your tags on. Support our NC and MEC. Unity.

Give me a break. You really think that world revolves around you, don't you.

Our world views contain more than political views. If you knew anything about human psychology you'd understand that.

Support the MEC and NC during negotiations. We're all on the same team here. They represent us at the table. They're negotiating for our benefit. It's not rocket science and it's not that hard to do what they ask of us during these times

Some things never change.

Also, second point is decidedly wrong 😆

This is wild to me. I guess one theory could be that the 2021-2023 hires are all happier than pigs in ****. Fast upgrades, big money, lots of seniority movement. They (many, not all) have known no hardship in the industry or personal mistreatment by the company. Circumstances made them this way, not anything innate in themselves. Having talked to several it seems like some of them are perfectly content and that worries me for what they’d accept in a TA.

I agree there’s lots on the Kool-Aid. It is up to those of us who aren’t to tactfully inform the other side of the story.

I think they will be enlightened organically as we make our way through another section 6 slog. The term YET comes to mind. The PBs probably affected them and this summer will probably affect them, add the section 6 talks grinding to a halt, the eventual NMB involvement, more arbitrations, decisions not in their favor, the inevitable bad mouthing/blaming pilots that comes with all negotiations and even more frequent IROPS and this time next year there won't be any morale left to lose.

On the actual topic of union gear, I hope the next lanyard isn't the wider style like the current, I find it very uncomfortable relative to the "normal" thinner lanyard.

I hate lanyards and never wear them.
I have a Council 66 sticker on my carry on and an ALPA tie tack.

Can see this. I’m a beneficiary of incredible timing myself. I’ve talked to a handful of folks in my same timeframe that seem to miss this. Agree with Viper’s point that those who HAVE been through the pain to inform us, but it’s also our responsibility to ASK. I always find stories of “how did you get to that seat” fascinating anyway, and when you talk to someone who’s been furloughed, victim of Lost Decade, etc., it’s enlightening.
