Shrink didn’t get you talking about combat, did they? Myself and a few friends had that topic of conversation in common.

I’ve worked at a few different airlines too. This is the most “company-leaning” predispositioned pilot group I’ve ever worked at. At least in ATL and NYC.

Still, I think I’d much prefer that over the toxicity that permeates through American, for example. Those guys are miserable. All of them. Or United’s forever lingering, bordering on bizarre fixation with scabs that has resulted in an unhealthy worship of ALPA.

That may be true, to be honest. We have a huge number of pilots who came straight from the Military, and Delta is their only airline experience. For good or bad, they’ve missed out on seeing behind the curtain of how airline management works - often deliberately against their pilot groups. That may contribute to what you’re referencing.

Spineless leadership, confusing decisions, undermining and questioning of pilots decisions…those aren’t exclusive to the airlines.

As a mil guy, I think you’re underestimating the level of disdain many mil pilots had for their leadership teams when they were in. The majority of mil pilots are guys who did their min time and punched…and the vast majority saw behind the curtain at how they (the collective “they”) were treated by their leadership.

That’s a huge contributor to American’s culture of misery issue, IMO. They have been vocally miserable for what feels like decades. Very much rightfully so at times, to be fair. But their bitching no longer packs a punch. It’s just noise at this point. That’s a pretty bad place to be when it comes time to sit at the proverbial Section 6 table.
