if I am frozen on equipment until mid September, does that mean no chance of anything on this AE Bid or I may get something if training starts after my freeze date?

Man, we've been furloughed, the airline has shrunk itself out of the market, and now we're going to be a third world country?
Your predictions are always so spot on, Bar. ;) |

He has a point if things are extrapolated, same as how he did the furlough projection. The fact is that actualities do not follow trends, which is why he is constantly wrong even down to his "impending" displacement. He's not a Douglas workaround engineer... he's still on the 737 as he has been for years.
Again, he is correct about the pension liabilities shortfall in CA. Bar, is a pessimist 90% of the time. He freely admits he was wrong about the furloughs, but not the economy in which he made the predictions from. If you knew who he was getting some of his investing advice from, you may understand why he has such a sunny outlook! :D |
FAA to fine American Airlines $162M
FAA Tells Court It May Fine American Airlines Over Safety
By Alan Levin - Aug 6, 2012 9:25 PM The Federal Aviation Administration said it notified a court overseeing the bankruptcy of American Airlines parent AMR Corp. (AAMRQ) that the agency might seek penalties against the carrier for safety violations. The cases, several of which have never been disclosed, may lead to as much as $162.4 million in fines against American and affiliated companies, the Wall Street Journal reported last night. That would be the largest combined penalty against an airline. The FAA confirmed that it had filed the claims in court to ensure that the government was paid along with other creditors in AMR’s restructuring, according to an e-mailed statement. “The documents detail both proposed and potential civil penalties in connection with ongoing enforcement cases involving both American Airlines and American Eagle,” the agency said in its statement. “Because these cases remain open, the FAA cannot discuss the details of the individual investigations.” Regional carrier American Eagle is a unit of Fort Worth- based AMR. The largest fine proposed by the FAA to date was $24.2 million against American in 2010 for maintenance lapses that grounded its fleet of Boeing Co. (BA) MD-80s in 2008. The case has not been settled, and carriers typically negotiate lower payments with the FAA. Separate cases could yield fines as large as $39.3 million for allegedly not fixing wiring on Boeing 757s, $28.8 million for landing gear issues on 777s and $27.6 million involving 767 engines, the Wall Street Journal reported last night. American is aware of the FAA’s potential claims, Michael Trevino, a spokesman for AMR, said in an e-mailed statement. “The claims process is a routine part of any Chapter 11 filing,” Trevino said. “It is not an admission that money is owed, nor is it an admission that the amount cited is correct.” The FAA and American clashed during 2008 over the agency’s partial shutdown of the airline. Since then, the airline has made improvements in its maintenance procedures and worked with the agency to improve relations, Trevino said.
