The play here isn't necessarily for pilots and jets, and AA, is worth more split up than together. South America (valuable to DAL), JAL moving to Haneda with codeshare partner (valuable to DAL and remember, we already tried to steal JAL with a better offer than they got from AA), Large pilot group that can swing a vote for representation/integration (valuable to LCC), Route authorities not valuable to DAL are valuable to LCC. It is very easy to see a consensual carve up between DAL and LCC.

Look at the hubs. What hubs are important for what markets? Carve it up that way.

Look at the political horsepower of not dumping another pension on the PBGC. That gets some politicos to look the other way.

I'm not being morbid or gloating. Its just how I simplistically see some of it going down.

I heard DAL was buying LGA. We are gonna move everything there, and shut down JFK. Everybody gets kicked out of LGA except us. Win/win.

I am surprised that you guys think AA will be broken up and sold off. There is little chance of that, in my opinion. AA will go thru the bankruptcy process like all the other majors did. In the end they will probably merge with usair, simply because there aren't any dance partners left. In this climate, DAL and UAL/CAL are too big to go at it alone.

Yes, a rare occourrence indeed. A friend of mine told me today that all the ads around JFK touting the new T4 expansion have mysteriously disappeared. Something is afoot. Does IAG have any interest in any of these terminals? Their recent statements could indicate something along these lines...
