Will most of the pilots set to retire in the coming years go all the way to 65, or what is the typical age they'll actually retire at?

We've had several early retirement offers in previous years as well as now, so the average has worked out to be about 62.5. It will be interesting to see how it goes without the aid of those.

Too late! We are already in T-4. But you knew that. ;)

Oh yeah, I've spent Waaay too much time on the shuttle between T-3 and T-4. I HOPE this rumor is true!!!

Our customers HATE the confusion and P!ss poor shuttle operation between 3 & 4. There are no signs at 2 or 3 check in areas alerting customers that thier flight will depart 4, after they check in the are left wandering around 2 and 3 looking for a gate that doesn't exist. Some moron in IT for the mobile Delta App lists departures for gates B20, B22, 24,...ect....there is NO FREAKING B Terminal....this just adds to the confusion. THEN, when our customers finally figure out where they need to be, they get to the shuttle area that only run every 20 min., are greeted by rude gate agents and given little to no information. I'd be curious to know the $$ amount attributed to mis-connects as a result of us "winning in NY".

Rant over.

Ok... I've gotta ask: Then why did you say we will never set foot in t-4??

Well, maybe.

I heard a rumor that they aren't building the connector bridge as originally planned between T2 and T4, and that airside buses will be used indefinitely. I guess if AA were to take over T4 and T5, they wouldn't need the bridge now, would they?

Heard it in reverse: we're going to extend into T5. Go figure.

Erdude32 08-13-2012 09:58 AM

What I meant was that we will never use the new gates and new wing of T-4....that by the time it's done and open next year we will be at T-8. Which imo is a great move. Even with T-4 fully completed and operational there is still going to be a pita transfer from T-2 to T-4. The only way this is going to be remotely sucessfull is if we built a train similar to DTW or MSP....inside security. A moving walkway would suck too.

Also the jetbridges at T-4 are not designed in mind of our ageing and obese clientel. Have you ever been behind a crowd of them waddling and limping up the switchbacks to the concourse level???

Jet Skier Breaks Through JFK Airport's $100 Million Security System - ABC News

Sorry if the link doesn't work. I'm not sure what is more shocking - a) the guy walked into terminal 3 after abandoning his jet ski in Jamaica Bay, or b) they called JFK's security "state of the art".

5 years??

Try being at the bottom of the list (within bottom 10%) 11 years after you were hired.... And I'm guessing somewhere along the way there has been worse than that.

And what was the average retirement age prior to age 65??

Hilarious. He got to the ramp and terminal 3 in record time. I guess ground didn't know to put him in sequence and taxi him around the east side.
