That's an often repeated fallacy without any basis in fact.

While the CRJ is an adoption of a bastardized Bill Lear design, the EMB was designed as an airliner.

The difference is the jet, meant to ferry a few people a few times a month and later modified to seat more and fly way more frequently is simply less well made.

I've been in SJK with heads of MX that work with EMB and BBD discuss how terrible the factory support from Canada is...

The E190 is an absolute POS. The 170/5 version is marginally better but not by much. Yes it was theoretically "designed as an airliner" but it was way over engineered with rediculous tolerances and off the cuff soggy bar napkin global outsourcing run amuk that would make Boeing blush. The CRJ series can at least run to their max 20+ year cycle life. I'd be shocked if the larger EMB's can. Its a nice tube and management loves it because its outsourced to the lowest bidder.

The tube isn't that great anyway though and the over head bins, while larger than the CRJ, are still too small. And it costs more to operate. It was billed as a revolutionary game changer, but its still just an RJ.

We are, we just differ on why flying is outsourced.

IMO it's not because the outsourced flying is superior to Delta when it comes to service and reliability, but because it's lower cost.

And even that isn't true. Maybe cheaper WRT myopic, isolated block hour plug and play costs, but if you take a step back and look at the many, many billions wasted on the RJ outsourcing game the numbers are staggering.

Quarter to quarter though, its bonus time, baby!

Dang it, I thought there was a cutoff age ;-)

You know I sat my first sixth short-call last month also with a 155 RAW, and the other guy had a RAW of 39, 0:00CR and 3 shortcalls.

I think seniority should matter on reserve, but some people doing everything and others hardly lifting a finger isn't exactly how the lineholders roll, so why do that when it comes to reserve?

With the upcoming FTDT changes shortcall is defined as "duty"
With that, it should be possible to argue the contractual ADP of 5:15 applies to that duty-period.

AFAIC shortcall should be in open time with a 5:15 credit.
Scheduling posts the start times and length and anybody can pick it up/yellowslip the shortcall...

That would let seniority really matter on reserve...
And conversely fill up the suckers stuck with it if everybody else had their say.

But flying every day to nearly full AND sitting six shortcalls isn't exactly equitable...

Post of the day right there. Agreed 100%.

Apparently this video was sent yesterday to all our heavy metal frequent fliers as a Holiday Greeting. It's not bad as a piece of smart Customer Relations marketing, but I want the names and employee numbers of the dancing pilots so that we may temporarily suspend their MAN Cards and send them to an intensive re-education camp of football watching and beer guzzling. ;)

P.S. Go Navy!

1. I said seats, not block hours. DCI capacity (ASMs) was reduced by up to around 5-10%, if I recall correctly.
2. Don't put words in my mouth, I said the 50-for-76 swap was a sucker's deal. There was a lot of other stuff in section 1, not to mention the rest of the TA. Everyone had a reason for their votes. I didn't have a vote, but when I spoke up, it tended to be regarding small jet scope because I see the destructiveness of small jet scope erosion every day.

When I heard she was fighting the big canasta, it really broke my heart. If anyone deserves the rest of their life sipping juleps on her patio in Boca, it's AT!

Interestingly, I never really understood what her job was, but she did it with ease and flair. Great gal!

Amen. She's the reason you would find me in Alaska every July...killing salmon at the Graduate level. Dalad, please give here hugs from Carolina. Ps...dam Denny, who did you offend in sched to get that many s/c's? Hope ya got Christmas off. Cheers H
