Great post Bar.

I think I'd even add another view point, I see outsourcing as a business issue. Sure you can save a nickle, to keep you from having to spend a dime and you burn a dollar doing it and refuse to account for it. It's simply not wise.

The business case for outsourcing could not stand the inclusion of costs from capital destruction, litigation, bankruptcy and business disruption mitigation, labor unrest, and the loss of 98 lives. Guessing low, that's about 5 Billion not accounted for in the models that I've heard discussed.

The plan, as outlined in Contract 2012, seems to work on slowly popping the bubble. I voted against C2012, but applaud the agreement to the extent it returns work to pilots represented by our MEC.

Little boy -- scope does trump everything.

You mean just like your whining and pouting posts complaining about other people do?

Or your: "I'm leaving and never returning here" type posts......yet here you remain??

My apologies for the scope rant of the day. Just can't help myself.

How much pay does someone "earn" by outsourcing their work?

Without scope none of us has a job. That includes you, T.

The difference between you and the junior pilots you criticize is that you analyze how much of one can be traded for the other so that your outcome is maximized. Junior pilots have a more holistic approach since anything in the system effects their job security.

Then there are a few odd ducks like me who view outsourcing as a moral issue. All people should be treated the same and be given the same opportunity to succeed or fail, based on their merit and the performance of the Company as a whole. IMHO, those who supplement their pay on the backs of others' labor aren't a whole lot different than welfare recipients who take the check simply because they can.

Ya know what? You are wrong on one very important level. All the "junior" guys have a very very important luxury that the "older" guys do not have. Time. It really needs no explanation. That being said, while I am not going to cry over the spilled milk, I do not believe scope is for sale 'at any price' no matter how hard you and ftb try to paint me otherwise. Younger, junior guys have that luxury to recover whereas the more senior guys do not. To say that the junior guys have a more holistic approach is utter nonsense. They are analyzing it just as hard as any of the senior guys, it comes back to that time thingy again... There is a balance that must be struck, that is all I am saying, and I think the NC did a great job of doing so. ftb and you obviously do not agree, so the more senior should take a paycut to satisfy YOUR wishes... Talk about selfish.

To continue with the same question I asked ftb. Do YOU think they are gonna get the CAL scope clause at UAL, and if so, what are they gonna have to give up to get it? Or.. Is Jeff just gonna give them a 40% payraise AND the more restrictive scope?

I'm perfectly happy right where I am thank you. Unlike hockey, I wouldn't trade places with the number 1 pilot at SWA.

So the A lines are posted and the reserve pilots in a few bases that I looked at didn't get an extra day off. I thought that when the ALV was at the minimum we got an extra day off?

I believe that starts in October, per one of those "when does it start" type memos.
