Next time I won't dress like a pilot on the layover. Maybe more like this guy:

Just wondering if any of you Delta folk know about the Flight Operation internship? What kind of tasks do you do, etc.? Anybody know if in the hiring climate beginning in a few years, the internship could lead to employment after graduation? Delta is my ultimate professional goal, not just because of the practical benefits (pay, benefits, fleet, etc.) but the overall company culture.
They are highly competitive and worth their weight in gold. If you get one, it will pay off for the rest of your life.
Major universities are the best ave to get one.
Hmmm..... Surprised this is not being discussed.

IAG May Consider Buying Stake in American Airlines, Mail Says
International Consolidated Airlines Group SA (IAG), owner of British Airways, may consider buying a stake in American Airlines Inc., the Daily Mail reported, citing Chief Executive Officer William Walsh.
The move is to prevent American Airlines from being taken over by Delta Air Lines Inc. (DAL), according to the newspaper. It would be a “small investment,” Walsh was citing as saying by the Daily Mail.

Oh, I've been discussing it, but not on here. Lots could unfold in the next few days.
15th is the date set for the hearing to void the AMR APA CBA but could be delayed until the 19th.
MEC is in session this week in CVG.
Anyone know which execs are going to be speaking in closed session? Haven't seen the advance agenda yet.
As Bar said, we've been discussing the fallout from the AMR CH11 for a long time. Of note, I am not sure BA really wants to buy a stake before new common stock is issued. BA does not want to compete with DAL. DAL has a plan B is they cannot access the AMR LHR slots; Virgin.
I am guessing that DAL has been talking "theoretically" with the creditors of AMR for some time. AMR imo was the driver for our early deal.
With the TA done and at the level it was done at, we have cleared the way for DAL to make a play for all of AMR if the so choose, then divest what they need to for ATI. UAL wants parts too. Its the real driver for them working feverishly to get a TA done. All of nothing could happen, but all parties at AMR are even stating that a merger et al is very likely now and not later. The rest is hot air. I still think assets like terminals and route authorities are what we want.
The next few weeks "may" be interesting if contracts get voided. More integration for employees. Oh joy.
*anyone have an update on the T-4 project in JFK?

From what I've heard, the Delta internship is less well-known as internships at Southwest and United.
What I'm wondering is, if I graduate college with ATP mins (whatever they end up being), could that internship lead to employment with Delta without having to go to a regional first, keeping in mind the upcoming hiring projections?

From: Doing what you do, for less.
That's what I thought...I know ERAU has a career expo thing where you can talk face-to-face to internship recruiters, give them a resume, etc. You can even go the year before you seriously are looking for an interview and just talk, and then the year you need the interview/internship, they'll already kind of know you. That seems like a great opportunity to me. (Actually, DL only considers candidates from a few select universities, I believe)

For the next few years, you'll be competing with former military pilots and pilots with multiple thousands of hours PIC in regional jets for a job at Delta. I would not consider your chances high.
