In March 2008 the contractual staffing formula required 856 pilots for NYC. Actual staffing was 943.
I was off by 100. Sorry about the error.
I thought sailing and slow was the same guy. Next thing you know, alfa and pineapple guy will start having discussions. Go figure.

Been in lots of briefs lately and have not heard it discussed. First I heard of this was your post. While being possible I think your scenario is highly unlikely, too many variables to make it plausible.
Just remember that NYC has grown from about 850 pilots pre-merger to nearly 1500 pilots. Ask MEM, CVG, DTW, MSP and ATL if they think that's been "whacked" mercilessly...
I know, I know, you don't get to do NCE anymore, which isn't nice. But your base doesn't look to bad from a different perspective!

And I haven't been to NCE in 4 years...

I flew with a guy who had someone on the jumpseat who knew someone who went to NCE on a WS last year. Over Thanksgiving, I think it was.

we shouldn't have any kind of private swap system. We should remove the absurd Reserves Required restrictions that caused people to run away from SWP, and we should have a 21-st century SINGLE MARKET for PCS, where seniority and transparency rule every transaction, and a SWP is not assigned a lower priority than a drop/WS, but handled as a simultaneous conditional drop and pick-up withn the same priority. IT WOULD ALL FIT WITHIN MAX PICK-UP, with a bow-wave, and we could all fill up throughout the year, to a reasonable amount that would be more in line to the pilot profession than the oldest profession.
Someone should bring this up and the next DALPA shin-dig as we really do need protection from ourselves.
Like I said; victory, back slaps for everyone. Time will tell. I dont care.

Scambo, as you know, our trip mix makes it hard to 'fill up' to...75-82, if you've got a 70hr. line, as there is very little in open time, and what's there is usually too much time, ie. 32-46, and too much time to white slip...UNLESS...you unload a trip to do it. (ie. trip parking)
So, you are left with the low time line, or come up with a creative work around. I would prefer we go to a fixed cap, at the ALV, and then have bow wave and spill back added, to 'fix' the short months. This would eliminate a lot of the games people play.
Sure, they might still find a way to pick up a 46hr. trip on top of their 76hr. line, but they'd only be paid the ALV, and the rest could be used to fill up last month, and/or spill fwd to next mo.
Of course the MEC would then take a pay cut...from 87 down to 82.
Boo frickity hoo.
