This is true. You need to make sure your recs are being sent via delta.com email addresses if at all possible. This will ensure you get max credit for an internal rec. The system they use simply filters out by the delta.com email extension. No human eyes see it (yet) to notice that you have internal recs. That's why it is so important.

What was the last "Average Line Holder" number they used, about 87 hours per month, or was it 92??

That's why they have no problem with YOU flying more, they get more, and NEVER have to fly the 92.

It is 87 presently, and though it is line holder average, it is a "pay-hour" average for the preceding 12 months, not necessarily a "line value average"

Btw, there is room to change it to include reserves... To start the process, you have to show up at an LEC meeting and present a resolution. I'm sure if you had one or two friends around the system who presented a similar resolution at their next LEC meeting there would be a high likelihood of the calculation method changing when brought to the MEC...

I was just looking/thinking about my example and it is flawed. First, Pilot B would have to give his B trip to Pilot C, then Pilot A would give his A trip to Pilot B, whiteslip the opentime trip and then pick up Pilot B's B trip from Pilot C. I'm sure there are other iterations, we'll just have to wait and see.........Time will tell...........

At least it eliminates it for most categories..........(I guess my glass is half full this morning!)

Also once it goes into the open time pot won't senior guys get it who have put in a generic white slip?
thanks

If SEA is gonna be the new NYC, that means that the international flying there is gonna get whacked mercilessly. Just sayin'

In fact, I've been on it 6 years and have never been called by anyone wanting to park a trip on my line. Not once. And my phone numbers are in DBMS.

I have only heard one other Capt. even mention trip parking, once, in general conversation, not as a request. I had no idea what it was, until an F/O educated me.

I think the Capt.s are just to lazy to think of this stuff, but those F/O's are smart, you have to watch them every minute, and NEVER step off the sidewalk, or go down an escalator in front of one!
Timbo;
I'll take you at your word, but my last trip, we overlapped with the other crew in the lobby.

One Capt to the other: "my line is your line."

The 2 Capts on my trip talked about it in briefing, prior to break splitup, on the crew van, etc.

I said, why dont you guys just greenslip and not touch the open time.

My Capt: "PPPfffffttt! that way I'd never get over 75 hours."

And yes I've been coldcalled frequently. My standard response is: "I'm trying to swap something into that hole."

I'm sure he meant to say the old JFK

They've been saying for some time that the 7ER will be the Pacific plane... I guess they really meant it. Did you know, for instance that it's a 7ER from NRT to PEK? There's all sorts of ER flying now that's 'off the radar' in terms of what we normally see. They are going to use a 7ER between JFK and SEA too I see.

I've given up trying to predict what airplane will go where, I've been fence sitting on a bid and probably the only people more confused than I am is crew resources. I mean, what widebody can you reasonably count on being stable? They shift flying all over the place now.

I wonder too if the days of point to point Europe flying are over for good, or just on hiatus until the economy picks up again. And when it does, what sort of airplanes will we have flying it? The older ER's are about 1991 vintage, so they've got about 10 years left in them.

JFK is extremely important though. I think we'll see DL flying bigger metal to the business markets for now, and trying to steal some customers from UCal and AA. But when you see markets like IST just vaporize, it's pretty disconcerting.

That Haneda slot time out of SEA looks pretty painful... who are we connecting over here at 6PM Pacific time? The slot times need improvement or that route will fail too. PVG... no idea. I hope it's a winner, and they bump it up to a 330 or a 777.

Yes, it does.

Go read Negotiators Notepad 12-08. It pretty much states that the original trip pilot A gives to a friend has to go thru open time before it can end up back on pilot A's line. If pilot A has the seniority, he can pick it up out of open time. That is the way I read it.

IT WOULD ALL FIT WITHIN MAX PICK-UP, with a bow-wave, and we could all fill up throughout the year, to a reasonable amount that would be more in line to the pilot profession than the oldest profession. I believe this to be so important that I am using caps, boldface, all at once. And let me add, for effect, some exclamation points!!!!! I really mean it!

But, when you consider how many people here just want to turn the maximum number of tricks of possible to get the most crack possible, you realize it's not going to happen. And the union is simply representing us ho's, and defending our right to be ho's.

Lord help me, I sure hope I don't come across as cynical and jaded, but that's my analysis of the forces at play. I think it's just too convenient (and futile) to pretend this is a case of representation gone wild, instead of pilots gone wild. Until we acknowledge that we are the root cause, and people actually change their preference, and the ho's become a minority, we're stuck where we are.

The old timers always said the contract was just as much to protect us from ourselves as it was to protect us from management. This trip parking fiasco is a perfect example of that. I hope the powers that be will see this new "work around" the boys have figured out and put a stop to it pronto.

It should be obvious to everyone that when pilots are finding ways around the intent of the contract and crediting up over 100 hours per month that it costs jobs all the way up and down the list.

I thought this was a good article about American.

American Airlines delays: The airline that can’t get its passengers to their destinations on time, manage its workers, or even keep its seats bolted down. - Slate Magazine
