I don't get this kind of thought. I saw the same nonsense from all the talking heads on CNBC when the deal was announced. Anybody that applied any common sense to this would realize that DAL was not gonna run the refinery, but rather own the end product.. which happens to be our largest expense, and is.. control wise.. usually in stick shaker. The move was pure genius. We will get a taste of that hopefully at the end of this month when some of that starts showing up on the bottom line.

You're an ALPA waterboy. You have the names and numbers.
If the above was truly the case, you would have said so in unequivocal terms.
Did you really post that, or did you forget to logoff on a company computer. Please say it was the latter.

If not... GROW UP

Perhaps they're rolling the bones that age 65 rule will be raised

We had some Tristar capts take FE seats hoping age 60 would go away.

Who told you they were going to hire in June? I have never seen anything put out by the company stating that. I have seen the following however put out over and over again. "We will decide on the possiblilty of hiring later this year based on the summer 13 marketing plan". That plan is still not out. When its out you can ask me and I will tell you if we will hire or not.
If I had to answer before the plan comes out I would say we will not hire. The worldwide economy is in the toilet. I don't see marketing pushing for any increases in block hours. The 717's and 737-900 don't really figure into the block hour plan much until the summer of 14. That is also when we really start seeing DCI block hours shifted to the mainline.
Keep in mind that Delta more so then other airlines has a huge debt problem mainly revolving around retirement. They carry that debt off the books. That is why the huge push to reduce on the books debt. Feeding that monster requires lots of cash. We can't afford any reduction in yield hence have to maintain more capacity restraint then other airlines.
Sooner or later a market share war will break out. When it does Delta will add capacity like the others. The industry will then resume its boom and bust cycle.

I don't work for ALPA in any way shape or form. I am however smart enough to look things up if I want answers. You can view all the retirements both RMA and normal on Delta net.

News brief dated June 8 direct quote.

If Delta can continue to execute its business plan, including the 717s, and barring an economic downturn or other unanticipated event, we could begin the hiring process as early as the last quarter of this year.*****

The same people who told us oil would be $200+ per barrel over 2 years ago? Yeah, my money is on Richard Anderson.

Que "Call Me Baby" by Carly Jepesen

I threw a wish in the well
and signed at Embry Rid'dle
got student loans and the Pell
and now I'm on my way

I flew in a 182
and a Sem-in-ole
Tagged every pilot I know
and applied on-line

Hey, I just met you
and this is crazy
I flew an RJ
So call me maybe
Studied Aerodynamics, for Avi-A-tors
So, here's my number, call me later

Your glare was holdin
worn pants and epaulets showin
crew meals had you blowin
where you think your goin baby?

Hey, I just met you and this is crazy
but I flew an RJ
So call me maybe
Studied Aerodynamics, for Avi-A-tors
So, here's my number, call me later

You want the mil-it-tar-y
It's not very PC
They go on permanent leave
But their in my way

They say GoJets doesn't pay
I've got student loans today
I fly six legs every day
So call me maybe

Hey, I just met you
and this is crazy
I flew an RJ
So call me maybe

Steve Dickson, June 8:

While our hiring is ultimately based on the Network block hour plan, which in turn is affected by the economy, all indications are that the addition of 717s and the opportunity for pilots to take advantage of the Pilot Retirement Medical Account (RMA) early retirement option will accelerate movement across the seniority list and require us to begin hiring earlier than the planned pilot retirements alone would have. If Delta can continue to execute its business plan, including the 717s, and barring an economic downturn or other unanticipated event, we could begin the hiring process as early as the last quarter of this year.

... and you believed him?

Wow ... an airline manager made another hiring promise they did not keep. Call CNN. Lindsey Lohan is more credible on the topic of Quantum Physics than airline management is on hiring. Which reminds me, do you know why Physicists are lousy at sex? Because when they find the position, they can't find the momentum.
