I can't remember the exact number but about 40-50 A320's are slated to be replaced by 737-9's

Yes, your right. 320's are older. I hope they all stay and the retirement rumor is just that. I don't know if they have life extensions available or not.

I really do hope we see significant hiring soon. I hope the mainline numbers grow as shown in previous posts.

I have the worst schedule and associated quality of life that I have had in many years. I hope my family hangs in there until I can be based back at home. Displacements sucks. Commuting sucks. Reserve sucks. This job sucks right now. (rant over)

Something that is interesting to me is that Compass has 45 poolies currently with the goal of 100 by years end. If Delta wasnt planning on taking flows why would they be hiring so much? One would think both Management teams would be in constant contact about the flows. I doubt Compass would want to waste their time hiring everyone for nothing. They did get a heads up that flows would happen by the end of the year, if that changed wouldn't they stop hiring?

By what official document? Someone fabricated this number, it spread like wildfire and everyone treats it as official word.

We have 57 A319's, the oldest being a 1999 model.

We have 69 A320's, the oldest being a 1990 model.

So...I think some of the older A320's were always slated to be replaced by 737-900ER's.

And recall that the company was looking at existing A319's in lieu of 717's if Southwest's deal wasn't good enough.

Hey Kite, I'm right where you are - displaced, junior, commuter, on reserve. I look at it this way - we've got a pretty secure job, relatively speaking. American pilots have a lot of uncertainty, Pinnacle pilots are in the throws of restructuring, many losing their jobs, and Comair is no longer a going concern. Even the military is no longer a safe bet with $500B in cuts looming over the next 10 years.

When the economy turns around, growth will return and quality of life will improve.

Looking at the current retirement numbers in the latest monthly based off the rma, I bet we don't hire till 2017. We parked a lot of dc9's, soon airbuses and 757s. The 90's and 717 wont fill as much as we have retired and are about to.

It does seem odd that they would want to park 319's because of CASM but claim they were actively looking for used ones recently. I kinda doubt they will park those 319's. Shouldn't they be close to being paid for? If the 9's were carrying similar numbers of pax, the CASM has to be better. The 9 blowing 8,000pph out the tailpipe has to weigh heavily even when compared to older planes like the baby bus.

Of course it also has a greater mission capability.
