They give you two CD's for indoc (aircraft study materials) and one works on the Mac and the other one doesn't. If you have a newer Mac (intel based) and have Windows loaded on it , it will work just fine.

Realize the AirBook Mac does not have a internal CD/DVD drive, its an extra item to purchase for $99.00!!!!!

The AirBook Mac looks great but I would stick with one of there other MacBooks.

I've got a silly uniform question. Do you need to buy a specific Delta-approved white aviator shirt or will any standard white aviator shirt work? I bought a couple of the Commander shirts the day before I got the interview invite (I got the offer) and if I can wear them at DAL, I'll save them for when I hit the line there. Otherwise, I might as well get max use out of them now.

Thanks.

I think there's no such thing as the Delta pilot shirt, i.e. the Delta logo on your sleeve. So as long as the shirt has holes for your tags, you should be set.

What is the training pay? I've heard it is around $2500 a month but wasn't sure if this was before or after taxes? Anyone?

2750 a month until you complete IOE. Georgia state taxes are deducted. 49.62/hr is first year pay with 70 hr guarantee.

On the systems CD front, there was a person in my indoc class with a Mac laptop and she could NOT make the CDs work for her.

There are 2 computers specifically for Delta pilots at the Comfort Inn if you want to use those for the CDs, and there are computers at the training center you can use as well.

The kicker is that the program tracks your progress along the way, so you either have to do the whole CD in one shot (good luck...possible I guess but heinously painful) or it gives you an option to save your progress on a floppy or the hard drive. Basically, you have to do the whole CD on the SAME computer to get credit for it. When you are done with the systems CD, it knows it and gives you a completion code which you will need to prove you finished it.

Even if your old windows laptop has seen better days, might want to at least use that for the systems CD.

As far as a laptop for lugging with you on trips, get one that will fit in your flight kit so you don't have to lug a laptop bag. I've got a Dell XPS 1330 with the 2 hour battery and it slides right in my flight case. One less bag to carry, plus nobody will walk off with my laptop bag. It does increase the weight of the flight kit a bit, but it's easier than lugging an extra bag. I just wish the TSA would exempt us from taking our laptops out for screening. Also, don't rely on a MAC for the training CD and if you don't have a laptop and don't want to buy one, you can spend about 6 hours at the training center on ONE computer to get the code. After that you can review all you want at the hotel and not have to worry about getting the code.

Go on EBAY and buy the little Dell 700M. 4.1 LBS, extended life battery, great Intel WiFi set up. Wide Screen, all ready for your DVD's, training CD's, and getting online to try to green slip your way to rolling thunder paradise. We are short on the 88, so happy hunting.

Last one I bought was 1.8GHz, 2M Ram, MS Office, for $400.
