I think I heard/read that the 9 month seat lock for going from the 88 to the 90 is gone now. No seat lock for that move.

Anyone know if this is a good idea? Been told there were more differences between the -88 and -90 than between the 757 and er' the 777. The -88 is already a big airplane with a little wing, the -90 is a bigger airplane with the same wing. Electrical, fuel, engines, eh' I think I might want to try it on in the box before flying the line.

How about some latest and greatest from Delta... Anybody know the aircraft/location drop at today's (4 Feb) indoc?

Professor 02-04-2008 04:18 AM

Dude...class hasn't even started yet.

Easy with it Moriarty.

Professor,

Are you waiting for a class, been through one, or just surfing the ether passing out wisdom?

Professor 02-04-2008 05:06 AM

I'm on the ER in JFK.

Let me know if I can help.

Toejam 02-04-2008 06:22 AM

Thanks Professor,

I expect to be there after my 18 Feb indoc.

The only operational difference is how you start the engines and the electrical panel. The CD covers those well enough that a sim would not be necessary. I had heard they were going to do the CD only for FO's and that CA's would still do the sim. The sim was a waste because the 88 sim instructors know almost nothing about the 90. Most of them have never flown one. We knew more about it from the CD when we showed up than our sim instructor did so for me it was a wasted day. If you get a guy who knows something about the differences, then it would probably be beneficial. Doing away with the sim is not a big deal in my opinion. And I'm sure there are many more differences between the 757 and 777.

this is my understanding as well. i am under the impression that the only way you incur a seat lock is if you see the schoolhouse during your conversion. MD90 diff's or Intl Ops GS and sims is a 9monther...any new type is a two year lock.

however, StripAlert is smarter than I am, especially about this stuff, so I would take it at face value until proven otherwise.

While I don't dispute your conclusions ;) I think that iaflyer posted the exact same thing I said in the post he quoted me from. So, if there is a discrepancy, I can't find it. 7ER->Domestic, no training, no aircraft lock. Domestic->7ER, training, 9 month lock.

Agreed, on all counts.
