ATP question:
I'm still on active duty getting all of my ducks in a row to put in my application. The Detla mins page says "passing grade on ATP written." Has anyone been hired lately with just the ATPw? It isn't that I'm too cheap or can't get the ATP, but due to schedule stuff I want to get my app in as early as I can so I would like to get it in once I get my ATPw done. After March I should have more flexibility to get the actual ATP certificate, but I want my application in by then as well. Cooper, You can get your ATP when you finish ER training at Delta.http://airlinepilotforums.com/images/icons/icon12.gif Your thinking is right the sooner you get your app in and get out of the Service the better your seniority will be. It was a few years ago but I didn't have an ATP when I was hired. |

If you're more than 2 months from your availability date, it won't matter because from everything posted here and people I've been in contact with, Delta won't call until 2 months. Good luck |
Sorry to raise the issue again guys but a question about DAL's medical/dental coverage. When I was with DAL previously, we received "credits" that covered our medical and dental benefits. The company offered credits which you could then apply to various coverages. As I recall, vision was always extra.
Have things changed since that we now have to pay for our coverage out of our paychecks? If so, TRICARE would be an attractive option. I've been gone for awhile so any updates/info are greatly appreciated. |
Thanks for the gouge

I know a dude that just had a grip n grin and his availability is August. They said that it was a waste of him being here because they want guys that can be available now. Waste of $500 for a suit and $250 airline ticket to get to Atlanta BTW, how do you put a previous quote in the nice blue box? |

ATLANTA, Feb. 14, 2008 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- Delta Air Lines (NYSE: DAL - News) employees worldwide today collectively received $158 million in profit sharing, honoring the company's commitment to recognize employees for their crucial role in achieving financial and operational goals. Employees' individual payouts equal 5.5 percent of their eligible 2007 earnings. The whole story is here. http://biz.yahoo.com/pz/080214/136348.html In 2007, we recorded combined consolidated net income of $1.6 billion, which includes a $1.2 billion gain from reorganization items, net, primarily reflecting a $2.1 billion gain in connection with our emergence from bankruptcy. From an operational perspective, we reported operating income of $1.1 billion for 2007. Upon emergence from bankruptcy and in connection with our Plan of Reorganization, we adopted a new compensation program which was approved by the Bankruptcy Court for our approximately 1,200 officers, director level employees and other management personnel (the "Management Program"). Under the Management Program, officers received restricted stock, stock options and performance shares; director-level employees received restricted stock and stock options; and other management personnel received restricted stock. During the eight months ended December 31, 2007, the total compensation expense related to the Management Program was $109 million. Profit sharing. Our broad-based employee profit sharing plan provides that, for each year in which we have an annual pre-tax profit (as defined), we will pay at least 15% of that profit to eligible employees. Based on our pre-tax earnings, we accrued $158 million under the profit sharing plan for 2007. |

Yes it was. To all who bash DAL, tell me another airline that is giving profit sharing like that to its employees. On the flipside, imagine how much more it would have been if DAL were not subsidizing Skywest's fuel to the tune of $100M.
From the SLC CPO Bulletin: WHAT A COINCIDENCE Continental Airlines said it will distribute $158 million in profit-sharing payments to employees on Feb. 14. It paid $111 million to employees last year. It said its profit-sharing plan shares 30% of the first $250 million in pre-tax income, 25% of the next $250 million and 20% of amounts over $500 million. It claimed its 2007 profit-sharing payout was tied for the highest among the six US legacy carriers. Delta Air Lines also paid out $158 million, followed by United Airlines ($110 million), Northwest Airlines ($80 million), US Airways ($49 million) and American Airlines (none), according to CO figures. It paid an additional $33 million to employees in ontime performance incentives. |

For those that are interested it seems that training has gotten backed up a bit with so many of the new hires going to the ER. I'm not sure how the other aircraft are doing but I started in Dec for indoc, had a couple of weeks off over Christmas then back to ATL for sims in Jan. I typed on 1 Feb and then didn't do anything until the 7th. From the 7th to the 10th I did my six OE observation legs on the jumpseat and have been waiting for a phone call with a rotation since then. Domestic OE will be 40 hours. I'm scheduled for a couple of days of long range navigation training back in ATL at the end of the month but it doesn't look like I'll be complete with the domestic OE before then. After domestic comes the international OE. The others in my class are at the same pace as me it seems. The time off with the family has been great but I'm ready to get back in the jet before I forget everything!
