Thanks, Weed, That's correct. If you are on reserve and don't fly over 70 hours, that is what you will get paid, along with another 11% payouts into your 401k/Savings plans. One odd thing is that the end of month paycheck is the small one. They pay a standard portion (don't remember the #) of hours on the end of the month and then after calculating your hours for the prior month, you get the per diem and the rest of your hours paid out on the 15th. Hopefully that helps... |
Hours
How many hours can you fly above and beyond the 70? Is it up to yo or them. I start on Apr. 7. I am sure Brian will answer all the questions, I would just like a heads up.

As a lineholder, you bid the system to build your line high time or low time. After the bid you can pick up time up to your limits for the month, drop time within the confines of staffing for that month, swap time for known uncovered trips or with fellow pilots. Your pick up limits will be different every month, as it is monitored electronically so that you do not pick up so much time so as you are not available for a full month's worth of flying. You will not be allowed to "time out" early in the year. |
ATP question:
I'm still on active duty getting all of my ducks in a row to put in my application. The Detla mins page says "passing grade on ATP written." Has anyone been hired lately with just the ATPw? It isn't that I'm too cheap or can't get the ATP, but due to schedule stuff I want to get my app in as early as I can so I would like to get it in once I get my ATPw done. After March I should have more flexibility to get the actual ATP certificate, but I want my application in by then as well. |

Cooper,
By all means, I would apply as soon as you have the mins. I know a mil guy who was hired with ATPw only...it can be done. Plus, you can always add in the full ATP once you get your application on file. I think they are constantly screening the applications, unlike somewhere like UAL or UPS where you can only apply once in a period of time. Get the written done, apply, and do the rest of the ATP when you have time down the road. |
Coop,
get your atpw and then apply. sheppardair.com is a good study source. once your app is in, go get your ATP rating. you got mil so that makes you competitive but don't stop there. ask your buds to put in a rec, especially if you know someone who interviewd recently. the hardest part will be the waiting for a phone call. Good luck. |
Thanks guys, I wanted to get the app in, but wanted to make sure I had the mins at least. This way I can get the app in and then get my ATP as schedule allows later.

I didn't do it because I am too cheap; just had the written and interviewed in Dec. If you're just looking at Delta then I wouldn't worry about it, but if your backup requires it then you just have to decide if you have the time if things don't go well with the Delta interview.
My advice is for guys to get the ATP certificate as it will only make them more marketable. I would be willing to bet the airline apps program DAL uses scores an app and the ATP helps...unless Im wrong. Oh well...I had to get mine!! |

For Tricare Select if you are still in the Reserves or Guard, it cost 253 a month. A good deal. Most of the Delta pilots in my unit go with Tricare Reserve Selecto for medical, and Delta for dental. Just my two cents.
Remember DAL healthcare, unless it has changed, is paid out in tax free $. |
