Moderators are not paid. We put up with immature peoples crap for free. If you want to start putting names to usernames, then start with yourself. The next time you identify someone other then yourself you'll get a vacation from here.

ACL, Johnso, 80?

slow,

I'm just as fair with you as everyone else. Would you prefer we identify who you are? Generally, we can speak freely here. I like to keep it that way. Since the ATL Rep candidacy has began, there have been a rash of new posters on this board. They've been participating in this thread only, & their posts have addressed only the ATL Rep candidates. That's suspicious.

If people want to start identifying other users, they'll have to put down their name and employee number first. Otherwise, their posts identifying others will go bye bye.

80 signed a DPA card. ACL posted on DPA BBQ day "it's a great day for a BBQ", then after the DPA event was over edited his post to say "at home." That makes them suspect to me. I agree with you on Johnso.

Thanks for the support on the question, but your DPA follow-up isn't material. Take it to that thread, please.

While it's true that I'm always logged on it is not true that I'm always monitoring posts. I do sleep, eat, and spend time with my family. :D

Yes, you are. I think you do a very balanced job as a moderator. There are others that don't.

Nope, and I've posted as much before, especially right after elections were announced. A free exchange, even by anonymous webboard pseudonyms is preferred. Yet I've had several pm me using "real" names..with one exception (not in this thread) I've never posted any publicly identifiable info, yet I seem to have been identified (though with multiple "real" personalities). How does that happen without mods using IP addresses?

So you've stated that you receive no compensation. Is that true for all the moderators here?

Slow,

Honest question here, but do you ever get tired of grandstanding for ALPA?

Personally, I find ACL, Johnso, and 80 some of the most informational posters on this thread. Lately, the guys constantly talking up ALPA seem to be the ones who look to provoke and patronize.

How am I "grandstanding for "ALPA"?

Johnso does a great job moderating. ACL does a good job. Other Mods should aspire to their performance.

I just finished a trip, and it's funny that the political hacks come out of the woodwork like this...

All the DL moderators have never been compensated (though we did get a 25 dollar Amazon gift card for volunteering on here Christmas 2011 or 2010... cant remember which one). I'm not sure if any of the site admins are, but they are UPS, UAL, and a non pilot. If you're concerned further, contact HSLD or the Internet Brands rep CleeIB. We as mods are not affiliated with IB whatsoever except they happen to own the place.

Mods are volunteers and volunteers only, unlike many of the ALPAoids. ;)

We can see IPs, but will never out someone via that info... they are used primarily when dealing with banned users that are trouble makers that keep coming back. Happens a lot on the regional side of things.

slow, you get attempted to be outted because you express yourself very similar to a DALPA guy. Even by looking at your IP, no one can tell who you are. :) Others that try to are grasping at even thinner air.

Thank you. I try to be as fair as possible.

Your participation in maintaining confidentiality is appreciated. If I personally catch someone trying to share your identity, I most certainly would delete that as soon as I saw it.

I do not know of any mods who are compensated. It is a volunteer position. I've never know it to be any more then that. I don't play the IP address game, but that's me. I can't control what other mods do. Like the airline biz, I'm just a pawn on the giant chessboard. :D

80ktsClamp 09-29-2012 09:15 AM

I signed a DPA card because I thought the other organization should be given a chance to rise to the occasion and that ALPA was doing a horrid job. DPA didn't (in fact basically committed seppuku during the C2012 voting process... yowza!) and my card has now expired. It will not be renewed unless they learn how to put on their big boy shorts.

As far as CS and DN, take a look at their latest emails. Absolutely excellent 100% of the way around. Their views on C2012, scope, and so on are what we need in C44.
