The SEA announcement is just the beginning with changes to Asia. We will also grow south of the border. RA does not want to be # 3 after AMR comes out of BK. He also does NOT like the 787, so don't plan on seeing it on the property any time soon. We don't need to buy new airplanes, just cheap used ones. It's all about cost. The Trainer refinery is doing better than expeted, we are now in the market to buy oil tanker railroad cars to ship oil from Bakken. WTI is about $20 cheaper than Brent, further saving us money on Jet-A.
Well I guess we know now its not us....Alaska will now double in size and do the work with thier new 737 order. |

I think there's too much uncertainty in business right now with the Presidential Election just 26 days away. We'll have more certainty on Nov 7th.
This team has been doing the same thing for as long as they have been at the helm at Northwest and now, Delta. |

I was told by the new hire coordinator (lost his card so don't have a name), that if you send a rec letter directly to him (via a link on the flight ops section of the deltanet) the 'recee' will definitely get a look. Not a guaranteed interview, but they will definitely review the guys file.
He did also said he didn't expect new hires until late next year due to an influx of LT MLOA returnees, such as myself. Also said they will flush the furlough bypass list before hiring off the street. He expected most of the bypass pilots to quit, but some of them will come back. I thought those guys have ten more years to come back? |

Either that, or when Bastian and Anderson say "we" they have this guy with them. |

A merger with them now would certainly doom the existing FO's at Delta to the right seat for most...if not the rest of their career. Hope it does not happen...

Well Bar, durable goods orders (like aircraft) dropped significantly in August, because businesses don't know what their tax rates will be. These are just facts. This management team likes to have all the analysis done and everything settled before they make a big decision, and I personally think that's a smart idea.

The latest AP article about Alaska's order says 2/3's of the new ones will replace existing aircraft, so it's really a net plus of ~17.
