Oh no he didn't!

Obviously Mr. Bastian has not been briefed by slowplay or he would have known that the cut in profit sharing was far from "important" in funding the pilot contract and was actually insignificant.

Stand as One
Fellow ALPA member,
Whether you fly for a mainline airline, a cargo operation, or a regional carrier, widebody or narrowbody, you are needed, now, in the aviation battle of our lives....

On this issue, we must stand as one, now, or we will be undone.
In unity,

Capt. Lee Moak
President

How about furloughed ALPA pilots? What can Comair, Mesaba, Pinnacle, Lynx, Midwest, and Eagle pilots do to save our jobs from the Teamsters and SkyWest? Any ideas Lee?

Delta recorded special items totaling a $279 million gain in the September 2012 quarter, including:
a $66 million charge for severance and related costs; and
a $122 million charge for facilities, fleet and other, including charges resulting from the closure of Comair.

Delta dumped $74 million to keep Pinnacle afloat for six months, and then dumped $188 million on the mercy killing of Comair.

A quarter billion lost on outsourcing...

Not sure whether I should feel important or just cheap.

Quick solution, get Teamsters and Skywest to become Alpa.

Problem solved.

We’ll take our next question from Mary Jane Credeur with Bloomberg News.

Hi, folks. Can you talk a little bit about how you’re going to afford that new pilot contract?

Richard Anderson

Hi, Mary Jane, this is Richard. Sorry for not saying hello. When you look at the overall value that we’re going to create as a result of unlocking the ability to refleet plus the productivity that has been built into that agreement, we’re confident that it will be an important part of our ability to get to unit cost over the next couple of years to improve our margins and our return on invested capital.

Glen Hauenstein
And, Mary Jane, this is Ed. One additional thing, we also reduced the profit sharing going forward and that’s an important part of helping to fund that cost growth.

.

What does we also reduced the profit sharing going forward and that's an important part of helping to fund that cost growth?

Jaws: Panthers can help Cam with fewer “college runs” | ProFootballTalk

[tangent]You know the funny thing about NFL vs College. In the NFL, you throw INTs on a regular basis and sometimes QBs collapse, but they just keep throwing. They can also have 4 drives in 2 minutes. They also lose games and it's no big deal. In college, you throw an INT and it can ruin the season. You lose two games in the wrong year and it ruins a program. [/tangent]

You know what's even funnier, with two little kids, I've seen 0 football games from start to finish this year. Really I just watch parts. And I don't really miss it. I'd rather watch it on tivo and FF to the big plays. As they say, watching sports is okay and reading about it is annoying but talking about it is riveting.
