Any "Latest & Greatest" about Delta?
After considering that angle, I think Boyd's missing a couple parts of the puzzle.
Using occam's razor to whittle away at the press reports it would seem that either:
A: Delta and Air France are interested in getting control of Virgin Atlantic and will both maintain a minority ownership interest while codesharing. In effect, making Delta and Air France a sort of Limited Liability Partnership in "SkyTeam Airlines." If it makes money for Delta, management is pleased, or ....
B: If Virgin continues to lose money, then we are defacto debtors in possession. If it goes out of business and we can get parts, or salvage and sell parts for more than we paid, well, that's good too.
Singapore Airlines has lost money in their investment and had to pump precious cash into Virgin to keep it going. Frankly, we are in the best position to run Virgin for a profit; or profit from Virgin if she dies. Probably the next best suitor would be Emirates or Etihad.

Who knows, this thing could go many different ways. Let's hope that our "Delta" flying isn't reduced as a result of whatever the outcome is.

At this point, there's just a lot of talk and speculation.
A divorce between Air France and Delta isn't likely right now. Virgin's got some nice assets, but not worth leaving your wife for.

Why am I not optimistic about DALPA representing our interests with the VA deal.
I read the end license user agreement, and opted to keep church and state separate. No more no less.
As for how DALPA can push for a electronic flight deck, I would love to hear your ideas.

That outlandish end-user agreement that gives Delta free reign to collect, change, and/or monitor EVERYTHING our own devices (even outside of AirWatch), thereby turns everything I do on my iPad into "company business."
I'm a little suprised DALPA hasn't :
a) worked to limit Delta's control and monitoring of our "personal" devices
b) put out a blurb warning us about the draconian terms of use
This is about Skyteam access to LHR, not Delta only.
Well, perhaps going on record urging folks not to use their own iPads for company business would be a start. If the company can figure out a way to get us to buy our own devices, you can be sure they won't buy one for us. When a DALPA player comes out with your suggestion, I have to scratch my head.

Bar had it right, you and sailing are both the exact same person from polar view points!

Because of all of this and more, what a few hundred to a a few thousand pilots do with a ipad is totally inconsequential. To go live and see the real saving of the removal of all of those books in each jet, requires a corporate plan with a major expenditure not just on the devices but on the software and support. Buying our own may be offered but again it will be a short term solution to a hurdle not the final policy and plan.

Flight Ops have stated that they will not monitor our devices. For me it was a personal choice, not one that will drive DAL towards a decision. With 11,800 pilots it is a business decision, and any thing that is self selecting will have a 20-30% participation rate if we have to pay for it. That is why the decision to outfit Flight Ops with EFB's of any sort will be a decision that goes to the highest levels of DAL for funding approval. It also goes farther than just buying the darn devices. It also surrounds support, a device that supports modifications to our enterprise, has latitude from the maker and OS provider to make changes and to allow DAL the access to modify programs as needed.

But I continue to be skeptical of the assertion that Flt Ops won't monitor our devices. If that's the case, why not change the EUA?
In any event, there is no way I'd ever buy a tablet to bail out Delta.
