So the "mandatory" 9 hours prior check is ILLEGAL. Both scheduling and DALPA will try to talk you into doing this but if you press the issue and point out that it is illegal, they back off. If they don't, call the FAA and tell them you have a mandatory obligation to the company within your 24 hour mandatory 30 in 7 rest period and see how far they want to take it in the name of "productivity".

Stay legal.

I'm not gonna quote your whole rant, but I take it you aren't on RES. I haven't ever seen them "back off". The FAA wouldn't care either given the fact it's an ELECTRONIC schedule check. Just like the PWA mandates it on your day off - but that's not day 1 of 7 for your 24 in 7 look back is it?

Don't set people up to get themselves handed a no show because they read what you wrote. It's simply not the way things are done. Never said I like it, or support it, because its a massive detriment to my quality of life, but it is, even if you whine about it, the way it is.

I wouldn't count on it. :D

With them out of FPL, and I gave Purple a warning to chill out... it may be a bit less colorful on that line of things.

Maybe you ought to take Sink's advice.

You'll still have Tanstaafl (the great communicator) Nu, ACL and host of "new" ALPA boys like Sailor on here to bash. With your "varsity" comments and previous DPA support, I know we can count on you for entertainment.:p

It's a shame that the "ignore" function doesn't work for intemperate "moderators" like it does for your drank id.

That's it... depicted at max cruise altitude.

It's a little late now... but FWIW, I bailed out of most of my investments, and converted both my IRAs to ROTHs. (Not rocket surgery, just locking in gains before the dems take it all) AAPL was up $21 today. Profits have been taken, and great companies like that will start back up the hill. JMHO, DYODD. Of course that assumes that the looming recession isn't as bad as it can be...

And those cap gains taxes are just part of it. Dividends are gonna essentially be treated like regular income so those damned rich people have to pay their "fair share" too. That and the additional 3.8% on practically everything... sorry for the digression. And it's funny, but I don't really feel rich, but I am really dreading my annual accountant visit.

FWIW - our financial guy had us move our TSP (wife and I are feds) to 100% G fund til this blows over. I'll let you know when he says to reallocate, which will guarantee an (intern)national market drop.

Just to clarify something from earlier. There is not a mandatory 9 hour schedule check. The cutoff for them to add something is 9 hours prior to the end of a normal non-fly day. The deadline for your schedule check is not until 0200.

Which gives you 3 hours to report for a long call assignment. You are correct.
