Try living in ATL and being forced to commute to NYC for work.

Its true that nobody is violating the contract. That's the problem.

The "reason to complain" is the contract itself.
I don't think guys realized just how many jobs would be killed by all the new "productivity enhancements".

We need to find a way to get back some sort of monthly cap.

Guys swapping and whiteslipping to 100 hours every month are bringing down the neighborhood.

It must suck! If you miss a mainline flight to or from work, you have to wait almost an hour for the next one! Oh, the humanity...

Complaining about the contract is another thing all-together. I got the impression that certain pilots who white slip are somehow at fault.

I typically fly 55-65 hours, drop 1-2 trips trips, and white slip another trip at some point during the month. The original comment made it seem that people like me are somehow preventing green slips from going out.

I've never white slipped passed guarantee, but I didn't think guys could white slip up that high (100 hours). I've never tried it, and I rarely am able to work a last minute green slips.

And with regard to your picture, I'm not exactly sure what your getting at. I think those gals would make an ideal contribution to our pilot group.

Let's see if I got this straight: You live in ATL. You bid to fly out of NY. Were you not aware there would be a commute involved?
I think the problem is that you want to fly the ER, but you'd be on reserve in ATL

What's a crew meal?

I think the misunderstanding here is that sometimes whiteslips are used to replace personal dropped trips. The greenslip comment was ignorant. If a pilot drops all his trips, a green slip won't do him any good anyhow as he won't have met the trigger.

Huh? There are 2010 hires not forced to commute to NYC for work.

It is nearly impossible for a commuter to get greenslips, if I want to make extra money, a white slip is the only way. A better system for premium pay might have helped. Something like 150% beyond 80 hrs. (numbers chosen at random) I suggested it, ALPA didn't think it was a good enough idea...

I know, I choose to commute so I should sacrifice everything to those who are better employees and choose to live in base. Or, I could just white slip to my hearts content and continue to tell the haters to go **** themselves.

The goal is mo' money, less work. It may seem counter intuitive, but to achieve that, we need a contract that makes us each fly fewer hours. Reserves become lineholders, ERs become 777s, FOs finally move to the left seat.

150% over 80 would get everyone flying more, and eventually moving backwards. Then you get to work more hours just to make your old paycheck.

First on my change list would be to have max pickup apply to all WS/swaps/pilot-to-pilot transactions. Right now, it only applies to WSs. That's how guys get their lines to 100+.
