More importantly should we always be able to go alv+15? With alvs in the low 70s it was one thing, with the high ALVs of our current pwa the *****s( while within their contractual rights) are assisting the company in putting off hiring and advancement. Next contract maybe we should tie the max pick up to the alv. The higher the alv the lower the pickup(ie 72 alv max pu 15, with decreasing pickup as the alv rises)

Certainly better than Harry Alger, Dave Greenberg, Gary ???? and Joe Kolshak. But I though Dave Bushy was pretty darn good. My impression is Bushy did a better job representing pilot interests to senior management than SD does. SD is certainly no slouch, but "plays better with senior management".
Harry Algers by the way was pushed out because of his instance that all jet aircraft be flown by Delta pilots. I would think that would be a popular opinion on this forum. |

Well, ok. There was that. But frankly SD is probably the most forthright and talented flt ops leader we've had since Pre Ball. Could do a lot worse is all I'm sayin.
Also, flt ops wanted to hire and weren't funded. This summer, the summer of the GSWC, if we play our cards right will kick start hiring and SD will have been proven right. |

Try being in ATL watching all the would-be greenslips being out-of-base whiteslipped by the NY based guys who live in Atlanta.
Someone has to commute to New York to fill up the flying, so again, I'm not whining. Your point about WS potential GS is well taken. |
Harry story...met the a/c in SNA,wanted to fly the departure. I sat in back, when he asked for his breakfast,F/A replied:"I'm sorry, the Captain ate your meal."....Just every once in a while you get a shot...ya gotta be ready.....

I din't think you're whining when you're writing that, so I'm not writing either when I describe it as poetic irony that the Atlanta guys would white slip the Atlanta flying for a change, as opposed to squatting New York the rest of their life.

That is all  I also love it when a reserve puts a yellow slip in to work on off days, especially when I have a GS in. Jinks |
So picking up white slips is bad because it prevents trips from staying in the pot and going out as green slips when reserves are low.
By that measure pilots who drop trips and add them to the pot are doing the pilot group a favor when reserves are tight. So I must be doing the pilot group a favor when I drop two trips and white slip one, while guys who white slip trips to a high guarantee are hurting the pilot group. Too much pcs bidding jujitsu for my own liking. If neither the pilots or the company are violating the contract, I really don't see a reason to complain. |
