The oldest A320's we have we're delivered to NWA in 1990. And nowhere does it state 30 A320's will be parked. ;)
Mainline fleet will be growing and we'll be needing more pilots... I don't get where all the negative nanciness is coming from today if they actually looked at the fleet plan. Those 8 757s were supposed to leave the fleet by yesterday... any word if they actually went? |

As per several of the big horses' mouths, they are correct. The oldest 30 or 40's lift will be replaced by the 739s.

This was the Outback Bowl Charter for the Gamecocks, a 757-200 on 12/26. True airspeed was filed (per flightaware.com) as 354 kts.
The trip home was filed (1/2/13) as 470 kts. Can someone explain the 116 kt difference? Altitudes were 380 down and 350 back. Or do I just need to go back and read up on TAS? ps Chuck Norris just ordered a Jadaveon Clowney jersey. |

The non-hiring phase was certainly extended when the company was given more productivity.
Jack, While it is true that we are fat now and reserves may be ridden harder as we "lean" out our manning, we will most likely also start a period of much greater (any) positive movement and hopefully end the era of retrograde movement most of us have experienced for the last decade. So although reserves may be abused more in the future (still very domicile and equipment dependent) hopefully pilots will be able to bid off reserve much more quickly by bidding into/staying in a junior position. Presently a lot of guys are truly stuck on reserve - once the movement starts, reserve will more of a choice for most pilots. As far as furloughs go - I don't really don't so. :) Even if some improvident bean counter actually wanted to furlough it would cause too much A$$-pain for the company - removing seats from RJs, Flowing guys down to DCI IAW the flows etc. Most no furlough clauses are close to worthless (been furloughed with a no furlough clause in effect) our contract, while actually allowing furloughs makes it very, very inconvenient for the company to pull the trigger on a Furlough. Not saying it can't happen, but not worth worrying about. Scoop |

80,
There has been no official publication of numbers. Everything said to this point is "he said she said" rumors. I'm not denying that 320's will be parked, but until it's official it's simply a rumor that is subject to change. Specifically that 3209- ~3249 will be replaced by the 739 lift. It's subject to change, but that dodging the issue is the highest liklihood for how it will transpire. While aircraft are being replaced, it should not be discounted that in the same breath the mainline fleet is planned to grow from around 720 to 796. If you discount one, you have to discount the other. |
