Any "Latest & Greatest" about Delta?
Your first two to three months you make less than 2500/ month is one way.
Expense or relocation reimbursements, including per diem
Imputed income to the pilot for any reason pursuant to federal, state or local law
Shared Rewards or any Profit Sharing Plan payouts related to prior years
Company retirement program contributions
Income from the grant, vesting, exercise or sale of Delta stock or Delta stock options
Delta Pilot Mutual Aid (DPMA) payments
Disability payments
Medical plan reimbursements
We gave up hundreds of jobs in this last contract. Maybe 1000 jobs. Maybe more.
We agreed to years of stagnation in exchange for a modest pay bump.
Raising the ALV. Making July and August into 30 day months. Running reserves to ALV +15. More and bigger regional jets. More codeshares and joint ventures. Etc. etc. etc. All of that killed any advancement for a long time to come.
I'm sure sailingfun will be along shortly to tell us all is well but the facts speak for themselves. Our list is shrinking and we are mostly going backwards.

APC L&G post #97988 from May 6, 2012 right after the first Negotiator Notepad came out telling us we were giving "productivity" concessions in Contract 2012:
Just opened my e-mail.
I am stunned!! Appalled!! This Negotiator Notepad is unbelievable. I can't imagine why they would put this out.
Are we back in bankruptcy? This is all increases in pilot productivity with nothing good attached to it but trivialities.
We've just lost maybe what? a thousand pilots with this disaster. More?
Raise the ALV? Lose jobs. Make July and August into 30 day months to pack that ALV into? Lose jobs. Bump the reserves to ALV+15? Lose jobs. Let reserves sell their X days for more guarantee? Lose jobs.
This is freaking horrible! If this stuff makes it into the contract we will not see another positive AE for a long long time. The 100 hour month *****s among us will love this contract. Makes up for the loss of trip parking and then some.
I will repeat -- I am stunned!
What the hell is Scrappy thinking putting this out? Could it be a cry for help? Is he warning us that things are going badly? The good things in it are trivial and infrequent. We can now call in sick for a toothache? Yippee!!
I suppose I will eat my words if there is a 50% pay raise attached but for now --- WOW. We are getting our butts kicked.
There better be some VERY serious coins coming along with all these work rule concessions.
Somebody tell me why I shouldn't panic. Please.
Did I read this wrong? Its all concessions to my mind. That can't be right.
When people filled out the survey was "work longer hours" the number 1 vote getter??
I'm just shocked at this. Sorry. Time for some single malt.

True for someone who was hired in 08. But remember, once the movement starts new hires will be able to get to most bases rather quickly, especially if they are willing to stay on junior equipment to get there.
Back in 2000 when we were hiring anywhere from 60 to well over 100 a month, guys were bidding FO before taking their FE rating ride. Now we have a one year seat lock for new hires, but they can still change domicile within the first year.
Using any time period during "the lost decade" as a reference will paint a very dismal picture. More stagnation is always possible, but I predict once the hiring starts over 50% of new hires get to their domicile of choice with the first year and close to 100% within 2 years.
Scoop
It's considerably more now. Back in 2007 I made a good amount more than 40K first year... quite a few pay increases have happened since then.
Yep, California is slitting its throat. We're right on the edge of leaving. My wife is from here, her family lives here, but she's ready to bolt. The weather's great, the schools are good where we live and we have lots of great friends. So far, it's been worth it, barely. With these new laws, it's getting less and less so. Plus, the trips on my jet suck.
Come on out to NV, the commute's easy (LAX or SLC), no state taxes, low property taxes, you can buy a mansion for the same price as a two bed condo in CA. You'll feel like you just got a 50% pay raise. You're still close enough to go back and visit the relatives. The weather is much less moderate than SoCal (we have 2 VERY HOT months - Jul/Aug) but the rest of the year is nice. Good luck, it's not easy making the move if you do it.
You can't say you weren't warned.

The delivery schedules are exactly what was put out by the company and DALPA. The last two bids were largely positive and had a net increase in Captains slots. In fact the last bid everyone on here talked about how terrible it was going to be even though it added a significant number of Captains jobs. The results came out and every said that was not so bad. The same thing will happen on the March bid. There is a large number of Captains bids that will help offset the FO surpluses. We have had those surpluses for a long time but forward looking layered furlough protections kept pilots on the property. We are now working though the surpluses and hiring will follow. Had it not been for lower then expected ER numbers and a large number of pilots on leave returning we would be hiring now. In fact flight ops wanted to hire but could not get funding from management.
I guess management could still cancel the 717's and 737-900's that will start coming at 5 per month in the fall however I don't see that happening.

Guys have been counting each the additional 5 years to finally reach the day when age 65 retirements kick in. We were counting on those guys who left to get the movement started. They didn't. The latest TA was also funded with those guys. Now they are gone and not replaced, lowering the total movement from retirements over the next 5 years. Throw in the new added productivity and this is a treadmill to nowhere. The spin just gets to be a bit much after this long Sailing.
So rumor here: the Delta folks at the Women in Aviation conference are saying no off the street hiring in 2013 or 2014.
Didn't say anything about taking flows from Pinnacle or Compass, just that it won't be off the street hiring.

People like to compare our pay rates to SW pay rates. Which is fine. But if you are going to do that you also need to compare SW productivity to ours. Do you really think we are going to get a big pay raise if we are not more productive?
