You beat me to it...well I was gonna try and be the first to ask if the AE was out yet.

And since you're senior to me you're not even seeing my bid.

I think that 717 will be senior. I'm going to go out on a limb and say it may % for % it will be more senior than the 88. I bet the senior positions are up there with the 320. Cuz you just keep hearing "I'm going to bid it for seniority..." Says everyone.

Really, pilots round these parts are just desperate for some semblance of technology...

even if it's just Southwest's trash. :D

Speaking of the latest and greatest in technology around these parts...

After a delay in its plans, Korean Air now says it will fly its A380 super jumbo jet to Atlanta starting in August.

The carrier had previously planned to start flying the 407-seat Airbus A380 early this month on its Atlanta-Seoul route. But last year those plans got delayed after European air safety regulators ordered inspections of all A380s for tiny cracks in a wing part.

Hartsfield-Jackson general manager Louis Miller has said the A380 would “enhance Atlanta’s reputation as a world-class city and gateway to the United States.” The airport is spending about $30 million on improvements to prepare for the A380, including gate modifications to serve the double-decker jet on Concourse E and widening of taxiways and runways.

Korean Air, a partner of Atlanta-based Delta Air Lines, first launched flights to Atlanta in December 1994.

We'll see, but you just prompted me to go look and see how senior it was going and there were a few guys senior to me who already bid atl717a. Of course, that could change 1 minute before the bid closes. Of course, if I was on the -9 and I liked that flying, why not bid it... OTOH, I don't think it is alpa's place to tell us what planes we would or would not want to fly.

Scam, you mean: "You would not want to fly a Regional Jet. Because it's small. Let someone else fly it for you."

"You mean we're only going to let small people fly it?"

"No. Normal people."

"Then, I don't understand, why does it matter if it's small?"

The one useless thing about that program is that it doesn't let you know how many people said 717A if 20% or better. Just that they bid it. Even their first bid may have a qualifier.

My scenario and situation was this. What if I fly a lot in the spring and summer? That triggers an lower utilization later on right? But how? If you have a finite number of people and bases you cannot spread the flying out. My point was with the look back being the past 12 months there is no way to catch up. You are playing this game again where the last year is always overstaffed and there is no way to fix it but hire and they wont/ It is the same situation with our JV they will be out of compliance guess when? Past the date we knew all along would occur/ Now they have to change it but how? These formulas as somewhat worthless without monetary penaties with them and we need to change this because we keep getting shafted by the company and they shrug their shoulders and say oops.

And what were the responses of the reps you spoke to? Did they just shrug their shoulders and claim there was nothing that could be done? Has the company been violating the staffing formula for years now? Serious questions.

WRT JV compliance, we have yet to reach the end of the correction window.

Yup. But I still see a lot of guys bidding off other aircraft to the B717. CAs and FOs. They'll go to it for seniority.

If you are talking about ALPA guys saying that, yes. It's interesting, you go through this arc in this job where when you are new, you'd fly anything. Then you get to a place you really like and you want to just hang there.

For me, the most fun I had at the airline was the ER, flying europe. Each september, 4 different octoberfest cities in one month, biking all over AMS, getting Brit cankled, snaggletoothed chicks hammered on 151 and coke just to see if you still got it, Prague anytime but the winter and greenslips when you wanted them. Then they domesticated the -er.
