Sequestration does not seem to have the market particularly upset does it?

For Cramer's record, he said sell Delta at its mid term low and buy while it is at a 12 month high. He's got a great rear view mirror.

However, the 5 year limit does not apply if you are in support of a contingency. I can't think of a single active mil job that can't be linked to contingency or contingency support. (reserve yes - USAFA liaison, CAP liaison (these guys don't get long term orders anyway); active no).

If the proper verbiage is on your orders, you are exempt. Also, DAL past policy was that if you had a letter from an O-6 or above stating you were in support of, you were exempt...This is the part that may have been fine tuned. (Mil guys, don't take my word for it, the actual current DAL policy from the horses mouth is what you need to follow).

IMO, the whole mil returnee arguement is moot. They were always on the list and by extension, they had to be expected to return.

Now, there are an element of that demographic who were furloughed and went back on active duty. Those guys had their furlough time free and clear, if they bypassed to complete their careers -- they have furlough time free and clear plus a minimum of 5 more years (userra) plus they have to wait for hiring to come back as furlough bypasses.
Delta never enforced or tracked the 5 year rule. Only in the last year have they started tracking exempt orders. It is not retroactive. The tracking started because of complaints from some working pilots.

That makes sense Sailing and based on my personal experience sounds true. Also, that may well be the gist of the FltOps commo on the topic. I didn't really pay attention because it no longer applied to me.

The CA I'm flying with is wearing a long sleeve shirt AND an academy lanyard. (We're on a dhd). Let's see how the stereotypes pan out for this one.

I should preface it that he's one of the two known guys on this fleet...will he live up to his rep or will the stories turn out to be fluff? Find out next episode on As The 80 Deadheads!

My understanding of the mechanics of it is: Recall letters go out in advance of hiring, giving guys a heads up that there is a window of time in which they can return. When hiring begins (and I would lump flow ups in this category) Bypass recalls come back with a flow up or new hire class. It probably is very possible to have the initial classes populated exclusively by furloughed pilots before anyone else. However, furlough bypassees can only come back while we are hiring.

If they sent someone a recall letter - That is PROOF of hiring at the same time.

I have to say that the Zoo guys I've flown with have been great. Probably some of the best CA to fly with actually. Usually I have to ask if they went to the Academy before they'll volunteer it.

Now a long sleeve shirt... well...

+717. My RAW has been up and they have been using me a ton. Almost every month that I go on reserve.
