A merger with jetblue would be a mess when it comes to the SLI. They are the only major carrier with a worse retirement outlook than WN/FL.
We'd need to have some help from DL a la WN to pressure them into signing an awful seniority integration. ;) |

How does that work if they're not unionized?

I think they jacked up the prices of buddy passes and didn't let anyone know. Just flew my mother-in-law from JAX-ATL roundtrip and it was $157! It used to be much cheaper.

This has been the biggest argument for a union drive at JetBlue, because in the event of no union, management sets the rules for the SLI, regardless of what the pilots want or what may seem fair.
DALPA can step up and show what a non union SLI looks like. We get a FLL base. There is a ton of MCO, PBI, MIA commuters. Just like new hires with a new base. |

It makes no sense and RA has repeatedly said no, but...
I think it might actually be in the works. Cons: Hawaiian has a lot of debt, not a very lucrative route structure, doesn't really bring much to the table. Pros: We push hiring out another 2 years or more. Market cap. 330M. They have 717's. They have 767's. They have A330's. They are getting A321 NEOs. We could take back a lot of the routes Alaska is now flying to the mainland. They have a couple of HND slots. It would increase our market penetration in the Pacific and Australia vs. UAL. Hawaii is rapidly growing in geopolitical importance with the rise of China and the overall situation in Asia. I would think that at some point in the future, maybe a ways off still, every U.S. airline (assuming there is such a thing) will have a hub in Hawaii. Maybe the B.O.D. is thinking the same way. Seems VERY odd that the latest crew resources monthly letter was pulled from the DLNet shortly after it was published. There must've been something in there they didn't want or mean to say... Fly, Two quick things come to mind - first are you referring to the same RA who when coming to DAL said, "I am not here to do a merger with NW." Second, if RA and his minions were actually working on a merger do you think he would want to, or even would be allowed to, legally discuss it? Scoop |

Lately in my category there has been little to no open time. But when a PCS run comes around, WS/PS/PW transactions occur. How the heck do people swap/pick up when there isn't any open time? Is scheduling hiding open time trips?

I've been DHing a lot lately. You just need to go to Crew Travel (on the Travelnet page) fill in the info to add your name to the listing that's already been built by crew scheduling. Then you'll have a seat # and a record locator number that you can take to Delta.com and move your seat. Within 24 hours of your dept you can move to an economy comfort seat/exit row for no charge.
I think the only time Company Business function is involved is if you are deviating from DH. Ironically, then you can move your seat to econcomfrt as soon as you're part of that system. I guess regular employees traveling positive space have more flexibility with seat assignments than crew. Denny |

Scoop And said prior to the merger Memphis was going to grow and get more international flights... “In this very room in 2008, Richard Anderson, Delta’s CEO, said about the future of the Memphis hub, it will be additional. It will be more business for Memphis, not less. “I expressed concern to him about reduced service or even outright elimination of the hub and asked him about continuation the Memphis-Amsterdam international flight of which we had great pride. At that hearing, Mr. Anderson in this room testified that there would be no hub closures, and he said the merger would maintain international flights to Amsterdam. “He went further to say we could expect more international flights from Memphis, and suggested that Memphis to Paris would happen. And he said there would be more flights, this will enhance the status of traffic and service at the Memphis International Airport. He said it would add, not take away from Memphis International Airport. “He said he knew Memphis from when he was at Northwest, and he loved the ribs, he loved the city, he knew how great the airport was, how well managed it was, how the time on the tarmac and taking off was less, that they saved oil and it was the best connections they could possibly have. Those facts were true. His response was not." http://aviationblog.dallasnews.com/2013/02/american-airlines-us-airways-hearing-the-unhappy-comments-of-rep-steve-cohen.html/ |
1500 base time is the "deadline for placing assignment on the line of a reserve on the last non-fly day prior to on call day." So the 12th is my first day on from a normal X day. The guy in front of me on the list was assigned a trip at 2300 base time for his first on call day. Isn't that a foul?
