Anyone that prepared won't just be prepared for one end of the spectrum. While you can't eat gold, no matter how bad things get, there will eventually (and it really won't take that long) be the need for something that meets the criteria for a medium of exchange (recognizeable, malleable, dividable, portable, non perishable, etc.) I doubt they are too worried about something that's been the undisputed king of universal currency for thousands of years suddenly and permanently going out of style. Not to mention things could get pretty bad but stop short of getting "that bad" in the first place. IOW, it isn't going anywhere in the long run. It can't be all you have, but if you have a lot or anything, you're nuts not to have at least some gold, which is why they and everyone else with "money" always do.

Gold is a hedge as are bonds. Nothing more, nothing less. Lots of gold bugs are going to eat buying in the 1,700s, IMO.

Uhm... I like it. I just bought a bottle of Weed and a bottle of Jaegermeister last month. I like a glass of either one while I sit at the computer browsing this thread or whatnot. Lasts a while, clears the throat and sinuses, both have odd flavors you start out hating but grow to enjoy as you contemplate W T hel they were thinking when either was first invented. Drambuie should be included with these also.
Similar but not as satisfying are pastis, ouzo, sambuco. Citron.

So what's the story with the AA FA? Usually the tequila at the airport duty free was a good 30% cheaper than in the states. This sucks.
