Hate to burn a sick call because your sick but you have to do what you've got to do. Where is PG, he'd love that. |

I'm no opposed to doing that myself right now. After a week of one of these summer colds that starts off as "ah its just allergies" to full blown cold. Fun stuff. My ears pop sitting still. You go from a runny nose you can't stop to permanent mouth breather... next thing I know I'm going Go Dawgs! :D

Better just in time to visit the exotic locations that us on ATL 320 get to visit. :) (for those of you senior folk looking to bid the ATL320: we've added JAN, TRI, GSP, CAK, CRW, MLI, and ...drumroll.. FNT!!!) |

I got it pretty bad earlier in the week. Of course, I had a stretch of 12 days off when it hit.

Its as if they didn't know, airplanes land in STL and then show up at their door. |

That is too general a statement. I knew a captain once who would drop EVERY trip on his line (he was very senior as an M88A, which at the time was very undermanned). He would literally start the month with zero hours. Then he would get two GS (at the time in the late 90s the rule was the a senior guy would get two GS before a junior guy even got one). He would then spend the rest of the month WS easy turns and two-day trips. The bottom line is that GS only pay double AFTER the rest of the month exceeds the GS trigger. This guy alone is a perfect reason why lots of WS may make sense for a lot of guys.
Usually the guys getting 4-5 GS a month (assuming the category is undermanned to the extent that that is possible) are guys bidding reserve and doing the rolling thunder thing--they are my heroes. Herk, Was there a G/S trigger back then? I never got a G/S prior to 9-11 but I thought the trigger was put in when G/S pay went down from 200% to 150%. Maybe they just changed what affected the trigger like sick time not counting, which happened for a few years. Anyhow I am sure someone older and wiser will chime in. Although I do agree with you main point - sometimes there are valid reasons for a white-slip. Some months I would have to drop up to two 4 day trips for MIL and would on occasion try to pick up a two or three day to minimize the hit. For years I was well below the guarantee at DAL but it kind of evened out with the MIL pay. Scoop |

Wait a minute. This my be the nyquil talking (which it is) but those are 88 overnights. And if the 717 is taking DC9 overnights and 88 overnights and the 320 is taking 88 overnights, whats the 88 going to be doing?

We always park at the same gate, we call when we land, yet when you pull into the alley they go "o wate.... airplane? nah, i'll finish my drank then hed out" |

I was commuting from CQ today and overheard in the jetway from a union rep just coming from the MEC meeting that it is 107 open spots vs. 100 displacements. "So slightly net positive".
Well that just can't be. They (and some usual suspects here) said they were done with the "funding" of positions. Bring on the hiring in '12.... |
