What avail date are you using? I received an e-mail about 3 months before my avail date which told me to fix some things and sure enough invite 2 months almost to the day from avail date.
They want Military folks, they just won't do what some do and interview you way out. Of course with them shutting down for the Summer, things can and will change. Good Luck !!! |

Hey all. Im going to be starting with Delta soon, and am thinking about the ERs out of NY. Anyone have any info or experience in that arena? Thanks for any info.

The ER flying Delta has out of NYC is some of the best for any airline at any base. You can fly a huge variety of cities and types of flying. Europe, Central America, South American and Africa are all available. As a junior reserve however you can expect to do a lot of short Europe trips like Shannon, Dublin, Manchester, London and Amsterdam. In June there will be several new markets such as Cairo, Capetown, Dubai, and Amman. The downside is you will be junior for a long time. The long call reserve for international however is not bad. You will need a crash pad as a reserve for short call days.

Thanks for the info sailing fun. I am in the same boat as flyinrob. I have read in the past where it has been suggested to get on the MD-88 if you want to hold a line faster vs the ER. However, I am in the next to the last class for what could be quite some time. How does that change the picture? I figure I am going to be on reserve and stay on reserve for a while no matter which aircraft I get assigned to. No problem and happy to be on board but with that in mind I am leaning toward the ER if I have a choice.
Also, I am going to be living in northwest Florida for at least another year. This is going to leave me with a double hop commute to New York. Will I be able to sit long call reserve from Florida or do I need to be in the crash pad in NYC? Thanks for the info. |

Thanks for the info. Be careful about relying on a DCI carrier for commuting too. Good luck with commuting. I gave it up for a reason! |
If you are living in NW Florida I would take anything available out of Atlanta. You can always drive if things get really ugly to get to work. Commuting is never fun and double commutes are even less fun! If you do go ER in NY the one London trip messes things up a bit for long call. It signs in about 8 am. If you get call at 8 at night you need to be able to get there. Could be hard. As mentioned its not a likely call but still on probation I would not risk it. We used to have a smaller group in NY and everyone knew if you were not going to make your trip call in at least 16 hours prior or wait until 11:55 minutes prior. That way no short notice long call trips for guys. Its way to big up there now for that.
