In my home state, hopefully in yours, when they send you jury duty notice, they give you a date that you are obligated. It also says if you cannot do that date, write in the date you can, send it back and they'll make that your jury duty week. Every time I write in Christmas week and they give it to me. When I get the new notice with Chriatmas week, I send that to the company and Walla, no workie on Christmas week. The big bonus is that no lawyer or judge is going to work that week either and you never get called.

That's just freakin' beautiful.... Well done.....

Can we start an APC petition to save management from making a huge mistake?
Is there nobody in Delta's IT department with a clue?
Windows 8 sucks. The Surface sucks.

Its not too late.
I know management is wedded to Microsoft but they need to face reality.
The writing is on the wall. Microsoft tablets are like the Sony Betamax VCRs.

Would it be possible to organize an "intervention"?

you want to have an intervention with management, the team that brought you abused MD90s and new 739s, because they want to buy unwanted technology because its cheap?

Dude...you're talking about a management team that thinks you can replace a 767/757 with a stretched 737, do you really think you can talk any sense into them on tablets? Is there any wonder why they think a Surface is an iPad? The fact is, the Surface is FREE! They need what, about 40,000 of them?

Let me do the math...40,000 free Microsoft Tablets, vs. 40,000 iPads at $600 each.

Free...or $24 Million.

Hmmm....I wonder which one they'll choose.

Oh, and if we eat some of those surplus Surface tablets, we also get Microsoft as our biggest corporate client.

Small price to pay for the company, and we will benefit as well, as they are already adding more international flying to SEA, just to serve Microsoft. Maybe that's what the widebody order is for? More flying out of SEA?

So...your chances of ever seeing anything but a Microsoft product in our cockpits, are about as good as ever seeing an A380 in Delta colors.

If they would allow us to use our own personal iPads instead of the Surface, we could at least write them off as a job related expense, like your hat and sunglasses.

How can they use the "we are tied w/ MS" excuse when I just left MSP today and there were hundreds of iPads for customers to use in the lounges?

Talk to Fed-X, Alaska, AA - Use something that WORKS!!!!!!

Baja.

The only thing they like to buy new is 777s and CRJ-900s.

I'd say 739s, but they're old even if they were just made yesterday. :D

I don't think Delta paid for those ipads. I believe in LGA all of the upgrades were paid for by the people who owned the food places.

Ok here's a dot:
from the Dnet, concerning Frontier Airlines:

" Though the buyer remains anonymous, Republic Chief Executive Officer Bryan Bedford said certain conditions must be met in order to reach a binding agreement to finalize the potential sale.

"If a binding sales agreement is reached ... we currently would expect such a closing to occur late in the third quarter," Bedford said during an earnings conference call Friday"

From wiki, Frontier owns 35 319s, and 17 320s.

Talked to a friend today who is in the 717 program. He was told that the hiring number was going to be well north of 300 bodies for 2014. Of course no official word but it sounded like it was closer to a 1000 than 300.:)

My "source" directly involved in the hiring said he still thinks 400 total for 13-14 and 800 in 15.
On upcoming order a different source in network is sticking with 8-12 330s and 30ish 321s. He will be surprised if it is Boeing. Just to reiterate and for those joining us recently, WBs are all growth for SEA/LAX to Asia. NBs are 50/50 growth/replacement.

Frontier doesn't own all 52 of those aircraft (319's/320's) they have in service. They own six aircraft (4 319's and 2 320's), and the rest are reportedly under, less than favorable, lease agreements through RAH.
