That's what my good buddy told me. If history is any indicator theres a possibility of an assessment in addition to the DPA pre-section 6/merger dues bump up to 2.25% like the merger and furlough assesments we pay now. I don't expect an SLI do-over in spite of the strange wording in the consitution.

And at 2.25% they are still running a major budget deficit! Also heard a rumor (unverified) that USAPA is going to exit CAPA because they can't pay their share of the dues/operating expenses.

youll see Airbus got product placement as did AMR.

I didnt realize it but its not Pixar?

Didn't Pixar get bought out by disney(?) some years ago? Maybe the name has disappeared in the corporate shuffle.

I'm trying to figure out how that's remotely relevant. In fact, it's a red herring.

USAPA is navigating a vastly different landscape, with different priorities and a fractured pilot group.

A Delta in-house union has much more to gain from booting ALPA than USAPA did.

p.s. I "also heard a rumor" (but this one is verified) that ALPA spent $36,000 of our dues money on an oil painting of a former chairman. I wonder what Moak's will cost.

The DPA dues are going to be 2.25% for section 6 and USAPA dues are still 1.95% after 8+ years. Sorry for any confusion.

Well, I just looked it up and I still don't understand the relationship, but here's a quote from a while back when they thought the movie was going straight to video:

Last week, we reported that Pixar was possibly getting into the direct-to-video business by spin-offing Cars into a home entertainment moviehttp://images.intellitxt.com/ast/adTypes/icon1.png called Planes. While the success of Cars made a spin-off seem like a reasonable business decision, Bleeding Cool reports that Pixar is not actively working on the movie. Instead, the movie is being developed over at Disney Toon Studios. They’re the folks best known for making disposable, direct-to-video sequels like Bambi II and The Lion King 1½. Pixar isn’t doing the animation and the extent of their involvement is unknown regarding the story. Bleeding Cool notes that Pixar and CCO John Lasseter (Cars, Cars 2) are protective of their franchises, so they may serve as consultants in some capacity. But overall it looks like Planes won’t really be flying under Pixar’s banner.
and

Planes is based on a concept created by John Lasseter.[23] Although Pixar did not produce the film, Lasseter, being chief creative officer of both Pixar and Walt Disney Animation Studios, and director of Cars and Cars 2,[1] was also the executive producer of the film.
I'll say this, it's alright but it's up against Cars, which after watching it on average 8 times a week, was near perfect imho.

USAPA is navigating a vastly different landscape, with different priorities and a fractured pilot group.

I didn't intend this to be an issue, I was just stating that the DPA was up front in the dues increase and wondered how long it will last if our next merge doesn't go well based on how long USAPA has been paying the same dues for the same servies. This is the language from the DPA constituion

The dues rate shall be 1.75% upon initial certification by the National Mediation Board. On January 1st of the second full fiscal year following initial certification, the dues rate shall drop annually by 0.25% every year until reaching a minimum dues rate of 1%. Special Circumstance Exception: Six (6) months prior to the amendable date of the Pilot Working Agreement, or upon early opening of negotiations if greater than six (6) months prior to the amendable date, or upon notification of a possible bankruptcy or merger initiated by the Company, the dues rate will temporarily increase by 0.5% until the new contract is ratified, or bankruptcy proceedings or merger integration is complete. Upon completion, all expenses for the Special Circumstance will be fully accounted for and any remaining funds and any accrued interest from the 0.5% temporary increase will be refunded to the membership on a pro rata basis.
Does anyone here not believe we will be in a section6 or merger in the near future? It could be 2.25% for a while.

Ha ha. I hear ya on the 8 times a week. I don't think our copy works any longer due to the sheer number of uses combined with all the times dirty little fingers have marred the surface. And yes, planes definitely has big shoes to fill when compared to cars 1.

Our Monday is booked for planes.

Who said anything about DOA?

Oh and have there been any paintings done on chairmen? I thought they got a "resolution of appreciation".

The movie is really good. For those of us who have spent a lot of time around small airplanes the attention to detail was enjoyable. Some of the critics that are panning it probably just don't understand what they are missing.

Steve Jobs and John Lasseter were the money, leadership and a big part the creative force behind Pixar. Jobs actually made a lot more money from Pixar than Apple. When Pixar was acquired by Disney, Mr. Lasseter was asked to oversee (creative direct and manage) the whole animation enterprise. He still manages Pixar as well. This just happens to be a Disney animation effort, like Tangled was.

I have liked his work on the Disney side as well, if not better, than his work at Pixar. This will make tons of money in merchandising too.

My kid wanted to watch it every day for a month. He still runs around saying "cQweeen" and "Chow" Because he's only 2.
