Among legacy network carriers, only United is shrinking faster than we are.

Spirit is the one operator that is growing.

Guess oil prices were not the driving factor....

Nice graph. We staff by block hours. That is what matters to us about pilot hiring. I am surprised that Airtran is down almost 30 percent while Southwest is still down.

Have any DCI carriers furloughed other than Comair shutting down?

Don't returning furloughees get to chose where they go, that is, if they can hold it they can bid it? I'm pretty sure we had some furlough returnees in our class in 08 that weren't part of the class bid, they'd already put down where they wanted to go.

Furlough bypass returnees come back to whatever is available at the time. Whenever the next AE comes out, they can participate in it. (Unlike a new hire who will be seat locked.........for a year I think?)

In 2008, furlough bypass guys (i.e, moi) were allowed to go to whatever and wherever they could hold. I'm not sure if that has changed in the years since but I went right to LA because I lived there.

The company must have needed you in that position. Here is what the contract says:

A recalled pilot:
a. will return to an entry level position (or by mutual agreement between the pilot and the Company, to a position his seniority would entitle him to hold),
b. may be required to complete training for that position, and
c. will be entitled to bid and be awarded an advance entitlement(s) during training.

Agreed. What the company did was offer what is contained in the parentheses in a.

In fact, I originally chose SLC because I could hold a line but changed my mind to avoid the move/commute.

What's a company to do when it wants to be seen as thinking outside the box? Why go after the biggest money loser in technology in recent memory.

Microsoft's Surface sales figures are in, and they're ABSOLUTELY HIDEOUS

Is management looking at Best Buy for HD-DVD players as well?

They came close, but the attrition rate is so high at DCI right now, there is no need to furlough. In the future, it's now looking highly likely DCI will fall apart due to staffing difficulties.

They don't consider the drop for the recalled pilots as an AE do they?

So, I get they can give out a projected conversion date and then send you to training earlier and convert your earlier, but can they move your conversion back and if so, how far back can they make it go from the original projected? I don't see a limit other than the end of the posted date on the AE when all awards have to be converted.
