Just a word of advise... It may not be in your best interests to pre-post military leave during these turbulent times.

Unbelievable. You try to help the company out, and they hose you when you try to recover from something out of your control.

I have noticed a few instances of the company taking a hard line on things like that. Shades of NWA?

Is it a sign that "constructive engagement" is not working?

Or is it a sign that DALPA is tightening up on the company behind the scenes, and the company is doing the same more publicly?

Its a trade-off between giving the company adequate notice and ensuring your MIL duty will actually be funded. With that being said I do remember calling the schedulers once and having my MIL LV removed. I assume you already talked to your scheduler?

Scoop

Lesson learned! I spoke to the scheduler first. She sounded like she needed me but needed the CPO to actually remove it.

Dirty, I've had to do this before as well (~ 6-9 mos ago). MSP CPO had no issues helping me out but he did seem a little miffed at my request. Maybe they are tightening the screws a bit lately...

I just retired from the reserves in August. But prior to that I got a similar screwing from DAL last year. My answer to that was to drop my Mil Leave on them with 2 day notice, every single time. I was so PO'd at the CPO that I actually suggested we should discuss my situation with a Rep, and record it for the ESGR lawsuit that would follow.

Some of DAL"s CPO management is not Mil Friendly.

Anyhow water over the bridge now, retired from the Naval Reserve and enjoying my weekends again...wait,... short call again!

Next AE on October 10th. More M88 CA & FO vacancies. Apparently the M88 will be very busy in 2014.

Another AE to follow in Nov/Dec.

Hopefully, with classes starting next month, they might actually backfill the vacated FO positions.
