If your category allows it you could pick up more reserve days but with 40% (your number) reserve coverage now, I doubt they will let you. I think you can check if there are any open reserve days under Open Time and then Open Reserve Days.

Call the chief pilot. He'll help you.

Kinda hard to argue with gz's post, unless that is you think we as a group should continue to give more productivity concessions to the company.

Many of us think that we've given enough already.

Hey guys,

Getting ready to fly a lot of MEX trips with layovers. Seems we're reclaiming some of those from AS as well. A few questions, what's the deal with security and liquids/gels going into Mexico. It's been awhile.

Also, any problem bringing my wife with me for some CUN layovers?

Thanks in advance!

I haven't had any issues with liquids/gels. They will take whatever duty free you try to bring in from you.

I'm giving the CUN thing a try with the wife on NYE/NYD... hope it works!

Let me know the CUN thing works out. We're planning on trying it the week after. I have two long CUNs in January. Please debrief me !

Thanks brother!

An additional request re family vacation and travel. We're looking at nonrevving a family of five to London for a week or so in February. Can you guys clue me into places to stay and any inside baseball for traveling and where to see/eat/ transit. I've been there years ago but it'll all be new with my wife and three kids. Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Thanks and Merry Christmas yo!

You do know about the ~$150 per person UK departure tax right?

Just did CUN,

New hotel, nice place but not nearly as good a location on the strip as the old place. And the all inclusive deal is $$. But a good beach, and only a shortish cab ride (or even cheaper bus ride if your wife is used to pilots), to the main shopping/dining. Make sure to ask for a top floor, beach side. Only the top floor has balconies, but they said they try to arrange those for crew. Concierge in lobby was very helpful/nice arranging dinner plans.

Taking a spouse shouldn't be a problem, big van, friendly driver, (same guy). I watched another pilot escort his wife with him in thru customs getting in, no hassles. Standby and customs outbound is easy too. Just get a seat request from ticket counter, I believe there is a slight tax, and get thru security. Crew cannot buy duty-free anymore, but spouses can.

The liquid/gel thing is somewhat random.

It'd be a great getaway.

Buzz,
Another Mexico oddity to remember is flashlight size in your flight kit. I don't remember the exact length allowed, but it was smaller than the standard 2-D cell Maglite...
