It was a gator reference... sorry.
Quote: I would expect immediate clarification from DALPA on whether we are obligate to acknowledge within 2 hours or not. And if we choose to follow the contract, what the ramifications will be
Quote: If we kept the ability to keep the phone off for 9 hours at anytime, with 117 it basically would turn long call into a 19 hours.
I would think we need a response now. This could have significant implications on how one will bid for January. Maybe these new rules will make the case for a Reserve schedule more compelling.

Quote: ...and are last-minute green slips legal under 117?
Quote: Actually how would they even cover green slips inside of 10 hours?
In order to guarantee, uninterrupted 10 hours of prospective rest the green slips would have to be assigned earlier.
Perhaps this is the time for 1.5 or 2.0 pay for everything above 75 hours.

I was kind of thinking the opposite regarding reserve... I have vacation in Jan and with the good deal that reserve is now, bidding reserve in a vacation month is a no brainer. (78 hours guarantee in a month with a 72 ALV). Now, I am not so sure... I think some clarification from dALPA is essential very soon.... I think their phones will be melting on Monday
Quote: Basically, as soon as you sign in, you're on short call AND airport standby.
Any Short Call window needs to be preceded by 10 hours of rest.

I understand that, but what I meant is, even if you are not on reserve, as soon as you sign in for your trip at the airport, they can and will re-route you to fly something you didn't bid and didn't want, so you are effectively on short call, without being on "official" short call.

I guess they have you there.
Is it too late to do that vacation slide thingy for Jan?

Nope. Vacation Slide is an option in PBS. As long as you don't try to slide outside of the bid period, and you can hold all the slide days off, it will process the slide and then the rest of your bid. I usually do a few else start nexts to make sure I have a contingency plan.

Gracias senior. I have never done this before (Man.. how long has it been since you've heard THAT???). ANd it might seem a silly question, but do you usually do the slide as a first preference?
