When enough flights get canceled that the media picks up on the story what will be the company's response? What will DALPA's response be?
Funny part about this is that we, as the pilots, are part of the problem. We have a lot of guys that are flying *****s. They don't know what to do with themselves if they aren't on the road 20-23 days a month. Some because of their home life, some because they've gotten themselves into financial coffin corner and have to fly that much.

Back in 2000 we were in negotiations with the company for C2K. There was a no overtime flying campaign which ended with the 49ers (49 guys sued by the company for posting stuff in the lounges, etc about no overtime flying). The company actually found a judge that looked at our historical overtime flying percentages over the holidays and said that we HAD to fly overtime. All this because historically we were cheap dates.

Me personally, I want a higher pay rate and fly the same or less, however even with higher rates there are a good many guys that would still fly the same hours.

No, but there is some sketchy stuff going on right now. Just remember that you are never required to be contactable on your off days. Never. They may also target any additional numbers they can find, including your emergency contact number in icrew.

This is an incorrect statement. That contact number is labeled for CPO use only. Now back in 05-06 we did have a certain assistant CPO using that number to call and harass pilots for not answering their phones but scheduling should never use that number and if they do you just inform them that they have a problem now.

Correct. Flight Ops wanted to hire much earlier in the year but was shut down by either the BOD or the "bean-counters," or maybe both.

Well now the "bill" has come due. Come to think of it, does anyone know of any companies that went from good to great by listening to bean-counters?

This crew shortage was 100% avoidable. OBTW - I think Holiday pay would definitely help. Some would plan on working the holidays in November, but by now everyone has plans, told their family and friends they are off etc - too late for most IAs.

Will they assign a white slip with conflict where scheduling borrows from Paul to pay Peter today?

Default GSWC?

Questions about GSWC....

Can you get a GSWC on a carryover trip? Or do they just modify your next month schedule and drop the trip?

Going from RSV to line holder......
Can you get a RSV assignment with a late sign-in if your line has an early sign-in the next day? If it leaves you less than required rest, does it drop your trip with pay? (The trip is a day trip)
