Happy Holidays, APC'ers!
Fellas, I'd like to wish all of you a very merry Christmas and a happy new year.
This board continues to be the best source of real-time, and occasionally true, information about the air line. It helps me remember, while I wander in the wilderness that is the active-duty recall, that I am, in fact, an airline pilot.
May your power available always exceed your power required,
FC

This...staff the airline. What is currently happening should surprise no one the least of which being scheduling/planning which is tasked with preparing for things like holiday flying. They saw this coming and accepted it. They decided that our passengers and the crews should pay the price rather than hire enough crews to properly run the airline so they could deliver the product our customers paid for....on Christmas Eve no less.
When enough flights get canceled that the media picks up on the story what will be the company's response? What will DALPA's response be?

This happens every single year at Christmas. They are never going to staff the airline for the Christmas holiday. If they did it would probably mean management was so incompetent the airline would not be in business long. Every airline contract has mechanisms to allow for surges. The company will get through this week just fine and I would be surprised if any flights get cancelled for a lack of crews. I have seen 25 years of OMG they are going to cancel tons of flights for no crew on a holiday. Somehow it never happens. If you want the holiday off screen your calls and stay home if you held the days off. Works fine lasts a long time!

There has been a ton of trips in the open time pot since the end of November. Money motivates people, and I'm sure the extra pay expenses would more than outweigh the revenue loss from flight cancellations and bad PR. Canceling because of a lack of crews is something that should not be happening.

Merry Christmas from Asia to all my APC bruddas. Hope everyone enjoys their time with family...even if belated.
