Council 66 (NYC) sent out an email a couple of days ago. It's worth reading all of it. Here are a few bits:
Flight Ops Policy Change ALPA has been engaged in negotiations for more than 2 months with Flight Ops to negotiate changes to our PWA that reconcile the current PWA language and the requirements of FAR 117. As of today, an agreement has not been reached. Flight Ops issued a memo that instructs pilots to acknowledge assignments to ensure compliance with FAR 117 rest, but this policy infringes and attempts to unilaterally change the terms of our PWA. In situations when pilots are ineligible to accept an assignment when in compliance with the PWA but in conflict with the Flight Ops memo policy, a Personal Drop (PD) is being placed on the pilot’s line, which reduces the pilot’s pay by one day of reserve guarantee. If there is a CPR (Chief Pilot Review) placed on your line, expect a call from a chief pilot’s office representative. If a PD is placed on your line in response to an assignment notification that is in compliance with our PWA, please notify us immediately. We are ready to defend and grieve all cases that arise. Making It Work As stakeholders in Delta Air Lines, we expect every pilot to do their best to keep the operation running safely and efficiently. Just the same, our Pilot Working Agreement embodies every expectation we have when we come to work. There is certainly a lot of flexibility already built into the PWA, whether it is for reroutes during IROPS, utilization of reserve pilots, inverse assignments or other premium pay opportunities. That flexibility is the result of negotiations; neither side may arbitrarily change the PWA except by the consent of both parties. Now that FAR 117 is in effect, we are doing everything reasonable to “make it work” within the bounds of our PWA. Following the direction of the Delta MEC, our Negotiating Committee is pursuing an aggressive schedule of meetings with the company to obtain a favorable agreement on those areas of the PWA that are influenced by the new rules. While we are in negotiations to reach that agreement, a company memo cannot invalidate your hard-earned Pilot Working Agreement. Know your contract. Fly safe. Wear your ALPA pin. |
Can we talk about something important now??
Can you believe the Patsies went to half time with only 3 points on the board?? And what about San Fran?? Talk about handing the game over! Wow! Epic collapse by both Brady and Kaepernick! OK, anyone think the Sea Hawks have a prayer against Payton and the ponies? Payton isn't going to throw 3 picks in a Superbowl game and that seems to be what the Sea Hawks will need to win. |
23K
My trip was cancelled tomorrow and I have 23K recovery obligation. If I'm reading the PWA correctly, my 23K on-call obligation starts at the sign-in time of the original cancelled rotation. Can they assign me a trip that signs in earlier?

Yeah, but he (Payton) is going to be under some pretty intense pressure and he isn't as mobile as Kaepernick!

Make sure you're underwater on the car, that way you can tell people it would be financially irresponsible to get rid of it after a furlough.
