The Hyatt Regency Saipan crew rate is $68 bucks! Normally $245, not too shabby.

Anybody hear an update on the glass cockpits for the 88/90s? I was on a jumpseat on one a few weeks ago and the captain had heard that the vendor for them was backing off some of the abilities they thought they could do with it?

I'm hearing the same thing. I heard there are problems with getting the new stuff to integrate with the autoflight system and that it has been put off indefinitely at this point. This doesn't surprise me. Maybe they could just upgrade the FMS to Pegasus (with GPS), leave everything else the same, and this would meet the Next Gen requirements?

Heard something similar. Apparently the funding has been reallocated temporarily and the mods have been delayed/put on hold. Personally I think management is interested in better RNP abilities for the 88 with minimal investment. If they can get the same capabilities from the aircraft for less than that will be their ticket.

Somehow I knew it was too good to be true.

Luckily there are still guys like this at Delta, we just don't realize it because they don't brag about it.

Agreed.

There are plenty of "quiet hero's" here. They won't jam their resume in your face and demand respect. They just do their job and try to be good to fly with.

I've flown with a few.

They don't brag so you have to ask, but if you ask, get ready for a pretty cool story.

What I have heard is that the vendor who was originally awarded the contract(for much cheaper then Boeing quoted) has claimed that he has run into "compatibility" issues with the M88 FMS. This of course has resulted in the upgrades costing more then was originally planned. Of course he told Delta what the extra costs would be, and this was not well received by management. They told the vendor he signed a contract, and that's the cost he'll be held to. The rest is TBD.

I can vouch that there are quiet heroes, because I am one.
