You got a solution? These are new FARs, not a contract amendment, and they apply to the entire industry.

It has a 33 hour layover instead of 9. So you get to spend 33 hours at the airport hotel in CCS for a three day trip that now pays 13.30.

LAX has been flying these for years. 3 day starting w a redeye to Guate or Costa Rica, sit for 24+ and fly back day 3. Guate pays 10:30 and CR just a little more.

Baja.

What?!?! Where does it say domestic short calls increase to 14 hours?

I think NB stay at 12 hrs. WB goes to 14 hrs. I hope I'm right.

That was the first I'd heard of that. I thought domestic SC stayed at 12 hours.

So maybe all of the rumors of NRT going away in leui of SEA are false. I thought they wouldn't pull out completely, those 5th freedom rights aren't something you can just apply for. I haven't heard any update on getting back to HND though, I know RA mentioned trying to do that...

Question for 717 guys & gals. How much notice did you have before returning for recency training & OE.

PilotFrog 11-12-2013 08:48 AM

Sorry my bad. Domestic stays at 12.

Reserves are also only subject to a 7th short call in months where the reserve guarantee is at or above 75 hours.

Still don't know why the company wanted this provision, nor why we gave it, but it is not as onerous as some people think, and will probably occur as frequently as "every reserve flying to 99 hours."

Riiiigght. Just like ALV + 15 was only going to affect international categories.
Hint: ALV + 15 was a giveaway, plain and simple, and so was granting 7 short calls shortly after negotiating for 6 in the merger! ALV + 15 sucks, even for reserves who are flying less than 99 hours.

There are 2 things we need to be working for right away to mitigate the unintended consequences of FAR 117. First, 5:15 should apply per calendar day, no exceptions. Second, if they are going to enjoy the flexibility of rerouting us for schedule integrity, crews should be paid for the reroute ON TOP of original rotation guarantee. IMO, they abuse the reroute already and it abrogates seniority in the bidding process. That flexibility should come at a cost to the company. Instead of getting us "prepped" for the upcoming QOL hit, ALPA needs to be reassuring the pilot group that they will be seeking improvements and solutions such as those I've just mentioned. I'm not holding my breath...
