I was married to a Japanese lady. Let me tell you something, they are in no way submissive and such. Not to mention she was just a .......

Any way, what I am saying is that the Japanese require very carefully attention and adherence to customs and rituals. However, the all mighty yen is still king. If we keep the NW people that have been running NRT in place, we'll be just fine. If Bubba thinks he can come in and do a better job, we're screwed. Bottom line.

Now I have to finish enjoying the rest of my 74hr layover in Kauai with my family. AND for anyone senior to me thinking about bidding LAX, the trips suck, they're not worth much time, the Capts are A-holes, the hotels are rat-holes, etc, etc, etc.....

You're right: this may be a case of "winners lose". Maybe AMR wins the right to keep funneling all their Asian pax to JAL...

OTOH, if we can't get access to Haneda (as mentioned above)...

ACL With the AA announcement of new JFK int'l flights what is in store for Delta from JFK next year?

TheWagman 09-17-2009 02:07 PM

So What about St.Louis?

Well fellow Delta folks... What about Lambert Field now? Seems like a good time to get into the game there now... With plenty of gates to be had and the airport under capacity it seems ripe for the picking. It's a good money maker for American and Southwest, the St Louis market would definitely support and reward more direct service. Anybody??

Heyas,

AMR has the moxie and the mojo to make a go of it, and they're probably torqued that DAL has called them out sooner than they would have liked. It's going to be a Battle Royale.

That said, the JAL deal was a no-lose for DAL. Get JAL = Win, lose JAL = force AMR = win. Whatever happened, DAL still has a double digit percentage of the NRT traffic.

Make no mistake, although quiet, AMR is still a powerhouse. #1 in Latin America, and locked in TIGHT with DFW, NYC, ORD and LAX....pretty much the top four markets in the country. Their moves today serve DAL notice that they're not going to be bullied.

That turns out to be good for the DAL pilots. More jets, more cities = more jobs.

UAL could be a "kingmaker"

Is there anyone who was hired in the 2001-2007 time frame that is running for DTW FO REP?

Heyas,

RB and GR are 1996 hires, and one other guy is a 1986 hire.

The closest is RW, who has a DOH mid/late 1998. I'm pretty sure he scans the forum here every so often, so if you post a question, he might jump in.

Wait and see what our schedule is out of JFK. I am sure we will compete effectively.

I like the way you think. Lots more to come.

Go do some digging and see what the rate was on that loan for AMR. It is not as good as what we got on our 1 billion that we refinanced last month.

No reason to siphon that traffic. Some may back me up, but it is what a 5 million O and D a year. Better to take the connecting traffic. There is no point in having every O and D market. It will stretch you to think.
