You can look at flight attendants, rampers, and van drivers every day and make a comment like that? I beg to disagree. Even as a 2nd year RJ fo 10 years ago, I was able to buy a modest house and support a wife and child. Granted, I was lucky and had some fortunate timing, but I dealt with a furlough and unexpected issues in my career. Even before I made it to a major, I had the perspective to acknowledge what I did have. If you hate it so much, you should sincerely move on, find something else and let someone who can appreciate it have your spot. Life is short.

Well I'm not sure but he may be part of the flow...
Our IDs are made by Delta, look very similar, and are Delta property. Things that make you go "hmmm" I was told recently that the DAL hiring board marks a no for individuals who use "I am familiar with the DAL system" "I've flown Delta pax around". Apparently when the pax are on DCI aircraft, though the pax think they are on DAL, we are still a separate experience in HR's eyes. Wasn't the case in 2007 when I interviewed and was hired. I used this very line. I think you may have some bad info there... |

On the 717 front wrt the left coast, 4 aircraft initially dedicated to ATL-AUSTIN-LAX. Then there will be several flights a day to SEA via LAX with the pilots obviously reversing back to ATL.
So I really don't understand what you're talking about... what is this "LAX" and "SEA" place? There's nothing west of ABQ. Nothing. I looked when I was landing in ABQ and I saw, nothing. :D

You got in at a bad time. The people coming up will likely have the exact opposite experience as you have had.
I hope.

Cargo ops are still flying around with flight engineers. They are by far the slowest to adopt new tech. Lot's of talk, but the new tech costs far more than keeping a few pilots around.
I'm making it up. I know they're working on stuff though and as sure as I am that we'd fight it and save 800-1000 WB FO jobs here, I'm not certain Norwegian Air types wouldn't adopt it. I mean look at it this way, say it's 1000 WB FOs at 12 year pay plus benefits and training and profit sharing, let's conservatively say they cost $200K per year. It's $200M saved. It'd be a fight. "Remember AF447" would be the rallying cry. |

+ Always wanted to work for Delta + Already worked for Delta + Volunteered with a Delta charitable project + Worked with for a Delta subsidiary + Represented the Delta brand to customers The panel objectively seeks Delta's "core values." Chief among these is a positive enthusiasm for Delta. Entitlement isn't pretty and isn't a winning strategy. Perhaps that is what you thought you heard. From what I am hearing the reason many of the flows were not taken were objective failures on the tests ... which suggests a lack of preparation (perhaps due to a sense of entitlement ... why study, I'm in) Also, Delta, like many mainline interviews are a league apart from express carrier interviews. If people are not actively working on preparations, both formal and informal, their chances of success are not high, no matter who they are. |

BB, I agree with much of what you strive for, but this is one of the reasons I am NOT in favor of bringing their whole list onto our list. I've heard the initial SSP guys have a roughly 50% acceptance rate. I don't want to sound harsh, but I don't want someone in my right seat that Delta doesn't also want there.
The benefits outweigh the down sides. I think we all can agree it would be better if Delta did the screening before they entered the Delta brand and began flying Delta passengers. It sounds harsh, but I'm mostly interested in the end state ... that Delta pilots perform Delta flying. Whether Delta wants to get there by setting up it's own operation and sun-setting the failing parts of DCI, fine. But with a $25,000,000,000.00 investment already made in DCI it has a lot of momentum. Who knows, management out at least $4 billion into Comair without shedding a tear at it's funeral. |
