Sad to hear. Do you know if it was glioblastoma? I never met Jim but I've had two close friends, also Delta Pilots, who died of that in the past 3 years.

It's supposed to be 'rare' but I've heard of a lot of pilots getting it. It's survival rate is only 3%.

I'm not sure what the exact diagnosis was.

I think it says in crew staffing newsletter will be flown by ATL and DTW crews. No west coast 717 base. They will also be doing DTW-AUS, so just keep going to LAX up the coast and back and you have your rotation. Sounds like a nice trip.

Jim was a great guy, he will be missed. Tailwinds always.

Cheers

Very sad to hear of Jim's passing. He was a fantastic example of a leader and an all around great guy.

Not sure of the glioblastoma diagnosis, but I understand that it was some type of brain tumor.

And yes, on the glioblastoma rate with Delta pilots, it appears to be higher than average.

Condolences to his friends and family. From all mentions he was a great man.

In 2010, Jim pinned the wings on his then newly hired son, MG.
